*'Rutte is unbelievable'
Caroline van der Plas of BBB calls Rutte "truly totally implausible" as prime minister. "Deliver us from this suffering. The whole country is ashamed to death. You are not fit to be Prime Minister, someone with such a memory cannot lead our country."

*Kaag: pattern of forgetfulness in Rutte
Kaag (D66) thinks there is a pattern of forgetfulness in Rutte. "How can this be, and how are you going to regain confidence as a potentially longest-serving prime minister?" She said she was further shocked by Rutte's comment about Pieter Omtzigt. "This is not good and 'not good' is an understatement."

Kaag stresses that only Rutte has talked about Omtzigt with the scouts. "You also spoke to the NIS on my behalf last week and confirmed that neither of us commented on Pieter Omtzigt. And here our paths separate."

Simons (BIJ1): "The fact that Mr Rutte says that he answered in good conscience worries me. Because what about the honor and such a conscience and this memory? " Rutte says he is accountable and therefore admits that he made a mistake." I find that I had no intention of speaking the truth. It wasn't my intention to lie."

Debate suspended, Rutte may have known what was in pieces before
Klaver (GroenLinks) wants clarification about Rutte's comment that he already had access to the documents at 7.30 pm while the other group chairmen could not see them until ten o'clock. The other group chairmen are also shocked by this comment and also want clarification.

Rutte says he got a call from someone, not his ministry, at around 7:30 this morning that he was the one who dropped the name Omtzigt. He won't reveal his source. The other group chairmen want to know who called.

The debate will be adjourned until this is resolved.

Rutte wants to continue as party leader and prime minister

Wilders (PVV) says he almost feels sorry for Rutte today because he is so cornered. "But shouldn't he realize: Mark Rutte's time may be over?"

Rutte disagrees. "I have led the country through an economic crisis, a refugee crisis and now a health crisis, a pandemic. I want to form a new coalition with other parties to govern this country. And I hope I get enough confidence for that."

Kaag calls for restoration of trust with new scout with 'authority and great distance politics'

This is the first time that Kaag has spoken as D66 group chairman in the House of Representatives. The formation process failed and mistakes were made, she said. Kaag wants this debate to begin with the 'restoration of compromised and broken trust'. She believes that the formation process should be described much better and that this could prevent problems in the future. "There is no handbook formation." The procedure needs to be much more transparent. And a fresh start needs to be made with a new explorer. "With authority and great distance from politics and independence." Now Minister Koolmees (D66) and Minister Van Ark (VVD) are scouts. "I'm going to use Easter for a moment of reflection."

What's your thinking Nicky?

Do you have a preference of what you'd like to see happen now.

Thank you for your updates and information on what's happening too.

let the second biggest party take control, that is D66 (democrats) and their leader Sigrid Kaag as PM, would also love a female PM from us, and she's shown to be quite strong in debates too

no new elections pls, i mean no thank you for a possible FvD win, since Baudet is soo anti any corona measure and we cannot use that at the moment, Baudet is a even worse far right racist than Wilders

ChristenUnie rules out a new coalition with Rutte as prime minister

Nicky91 04-04-2021 09:10 AM

https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2021/0...-full-support/

The VVD is to press ahead with Mark Rutte as leader and he has the full support of the party, senior party officials said on Saturday.

Their comments came after ChristenUnie leader Gert-Jan Segers said his party would not be in a coalition with the VVD, if Rutte continued to be prime minister, following what Segers said, is his ‘problematic’ way of dealing with the truth.

Rutte is at the centre of a political storm for apparently suggesting government critic and CDA MP Pieter Omtzigt be given a ‘job elsewhere’.

Rutte first denied having made the comments during early cabinet negotiation talks, but later was forced to admit he had.

VVD chairwoman Christianne van der Wal and parliamentary party leader Sophie Hermans said that Rutte is ‘the man who has moved the Netherlands through several major crises in a 10 year period.’

Mistakes have been made, they said. ‘But what matters is that the intentions were good. And that lessons are learned. That goes for our party and, in the first place, for Mark Rutte himself.’
