no. Sounds harsh but its honest.

a small number of vaccines in the uk make a big difference to the nations health, the same number in india would have no effect, so it's not a sensible strategy.

The timing of the india surge is the problem, and they haven't helped themselves by locking down until a vaccine supply could be made available.

Yes that’s my take on things ... it’s a dreadful situation they’re in but I don’t see how we can do much to help a population of 1.4 BILLION

Well I ain't had mine yet, so yeah. I reckon I could pull that excuse off to save the embarrassment of my laziness.:cheer2:

Honestly though anyone who is saying they would is just engaging in cognitive dissonance the rest of the time. Would you give up 50% or even 25% of your wages to help someone less fortunate in another country? Because you could, you could help an entire family live VERY comfortably in many countries, but you don’t, and you won’t, so why pretend it means something more to give up a vaccine?

That's a massive leap. I answered "yes" that was it I wasn't pretending anything, I literally said nothing else [emoji28]

Cherie 03-05-2021 08:57 AM

Tricky one now that being vaccinated also reduces transmission, I would say no

but we always know what you are thinking neem :eyes:

Ammi 03-05-2021 08:59 AM

...I would also be a yes...but obviously something that ‘my one vaccination’ would have no impact...so I would hope there to be a huge multi country co operation with it ...it’s a humanitarian thing, IMO...it’s devastating../heartbreaking on a scale we could never imagine to be part of...

bitontheslide 03-05-2021 09:01 AM

if you are on a plane and the oxygen masks come down, you fit your own first before assisting anyone else. The simple reason being if you don't get oxygen, you can't assist anyone. A similar principle applies here

Ammi 03-05-2021 09:06 AM

...no that’s not the same at all, sorry......that confined situation is more one to have a direct impact but the vaccine one isn’t...so I’m going to focus on that atm because otherwise it’s too vague for me and not relevant...anyways, that would be my personal call and stance...

Ammi 03-05-2021 09:10 AM

...this is no direct link to what your thoughts are, bots...but IMO, the world is so leaning toward why we shouldn’t do and there will always be very valid reasons why we shouldn’t...(...I don’t mean we as in us on the forum...)...but that isn’t problem solving, it’s problem shelving and problem turning away from and something that world governments are so very, very excellent at...we should be looking at how we can, because so many lives need us to...they’re looking at the world and pleading for help and for life...

i will mark you down as a NO

Cherie 03-05-2021 09:21 AM

India pulled the plug a month ago sending serums to make vaccines to Europe saying they had to vaccinate their own first, I think most people were on board with that...given they make so many vaccines it’s criminal that so few have been vaccinated in that Country

Nicky91 03-05-2021 09:26 AM

yes since i myself don't want the vaccine, but i would want to give mine to someone in a poorer country

and no, not India, that mess of theirs is the government's problem, won't be one to give them any help, fix your own problems and try being a better government

i'd more give mine to some poorer people in a balkan nation such as Croatia

Cherie 03-05-2021 09:27 AM

Rather than asking Joe Bloggs to give up their vaccine, ask the Pharmas to roll out at cost if they don’t want to share patent

bitontheslide 03-05-2021 09:28 AM

it's actually more complicated than that. America banned the export of any vaccine components which meant that india didn't have the required components to make vaccines for anyone including themselves. The EU and the USA are the most guilty in this type of behaviour

Also USA are sitting on a shedload of unapproved AZ vaccine that could be sent elsewhere
