Asda owners offer to sell petrol stations over competition concerns

[New Asda owners offer to sell petrol stations
to ease takeover competition concerns
The CMA could accept the offer or a modified version
of it as it prepares to deliver its final verdict
on the completed takeover.]

[The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)
declared last month it was concerned that
the takeover would weaken competition
in relation to the supply of road fuel in
36 areas of the UK - with motorists possibly
facing the prospect of higher prices.

Because billionaire brothers
Mohsin and Zuber Issa
and private equity firm TDR Capital,
who completed the takeover of
Asda from Walmart earlier this year,
also own EG Group.]

[EG operates 395 petrol stations in the UK. Asda owns 323.]
