Batley and Spen by-election : Labour Win (Thurs. 1st July 2021)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_B...en_by-election

Date Soon.

[A by-election is expected to be held
in the UK parliamentary
constituency of Batley and Spen, in the event
of the resignation of
current Member of Parliament (MP) Tracy Brabin,
who was elected Mayor of West Yorkshire.

As part of the devolution agreement,
the position holds the powers and
responsibilities of a Police and
crime commissioner, meaning the occupant
of the office cannot simultaneously sit as an MP.
The by-election will likely be the fourth to
the 58th Parliament, which was elected in 2019.]

Congratulations to Tracy, I reckon she will do well as the Metro Mayor.

Yes this seat was the Late Jo Cox
Labour MP killed by an Evil Racist.

They think Labour could win again.
Labour need to put someone good up (this time).

They do definitely.

This would be awful to lose this seat just 5 years after the brutal unnecessary evil murder of Jo.

Today Labour Pick
a person for the Job.

Some are saying it will be the Dead MP Jo Cox
Sister?

arista 23-05-2021 05:29 PM

Labour Have now Picked the Sister of Jo.

joeysteele 23-05-2021 05:37 PM

Not sure this is wise.
There must be still deep concerns after what happened to Jo.
It is only 5 years since.

I wish her the very best of luck and hope she retains this seat.
It would be an awful thing to lose this one after the brutal and heartbreaking murder of her Sister.

Anytime I've been near that area, I shudder at the thought of what that creature did to take away Jo's life.

Labour : After the sympathy vote

I am sure they will give the Sister
24/7 Security people.

If they do not
I agree with you Joey
the risk is high.

[Jo Cox’s sister chosen as Labour candidate in
by-election for murdered MP's former seat

Kim Leadbeater, 44
will defend the seat once held by
her sister
, after Tracy Brabin was
elected as West Yorkshire metro mayor.

She said: "I am overwhelmed and humbled
by the support and faith from members
in Batley and Spen. I'm ready to hit
the ground running and take
Labour's campaign to local people."
Speaking at the meeting in the constituency,
Ms Leadbeater added: "I'm a proud Yorkshire woman
and have lived in Batley and Spen all my life.]

[A date for the by-election has not yet been set,
but it is thought Labour is considering
holding it on 22 July, the day the Commons breaks
up for the summer recess.]

I don't think it's going after a sympathy vote.

This was a horrific and brutal murder by a crazed and dangerous right wing extremist.

I'm sure Jo's sister, wants to carry on the work of Jo and stand up for what she and Jo believed.
With Jo's career cruelly cut short.

I just feel there'll be other crazed extremists out there.
I ONLY wish her the very best and success.

I think it's a very brave decision by her to stand in the seat where her sister was murdered

I do too.
The bad memories this will bring back are likely to be numerous.

arista 28-05-2021 11:58 AM

Labour may lose some votes
Now.

arista 06-06-2021 02:03 PM

[Independent candidate Paul Halloran,
who stood in Batley & Spen in 2019 and received 12.2% of the vote,
has announced he will not be standing in the
forthcoming by-election. A major boost to the Tories’ chances.

The statement has just been put out by
Laurence Fox’s Reclaim party, with whom Halloran
had been in discussion for some time.
Reclaim says neither they, nor Halloran,
will stand in the by-election, however Halloran
does intend to stand as Reclaim’s candidate in
the constituency come the next election.]

On LBC live with Matt Frei
He interviewed Prof. John Curtis

Shocking he says Conservatives are due to win,

On LBC now,
Naz says George Galloway
is taking votes just to get a Conservative Win

Naz says He wants Keir Starmer Gone

joeysteele 19-06-2021 12:48 PM

Sentimental doesn't come into the political arena.
However for me it would be a disgraceful insult to the memory of Jo, brutally murdered 5 years ago..

The sickening sight of Galloway wanting to assist a Con win is really nauseating and shows the creature he is.

I canvassed in Batley and Spen for Jo and with her.
They were lovely people, I hope they don't add to this rotten government's numbers, having rejected the Cons for so long.

It will be a sad day, not for the Labour party who do need a massive kick up the backside and elsewhere.
If it's lost to the Cons.
For me personally, with my fond memories of canvassing there for Jo Cox, that's what will sadden me, the seat she fought so hard for against the Cons, and fought so hard for the people there too.
To now insult her memory and hand the seat to this rabble in government.
Who wouldn't know what decency and caring was, that Jo Cox had in abundance.
