Scottish nurses are getting 4% and even that’s a bit of a lowball. Pity Johnson didn’t say 4% for England. If he had, Scotland would give 7% :joker:.

With inflation the pay rise he's given them amounts to them having less spending power with his pathetically insulting 1% rise.

She's one of likely many who after their hard work and dedication have been kicked in the teeth by Johnson and his government.

After the year they have just had, an insulting 1% is a disgrace. I imagine there are many demoralised nurses and many more will leave the profession.

From a personal point some nurses should get more and some less
When my mum was dying in hospital of corona some of the nurses were self absorbed cows
Without out an ounce of compassion to someone saying goodbye to their mum.

Like in every job there are those that are in the wrong job

1% might aswell be zero , it's an insult and disrespectful.

I'm sorry about your mom sheriff and yes some nurses really shouldn't be in a caring profession ,but those that do a good job and take it seriously should get a decent wage.

Except he and his government aren't reviewing it.
He and his government stated a 1% increase.

HOWEVER the NHS pay review body, independent, is what is looking at Nurses pay.
Which they will then suggest what should have been the increase.

So again, he and his government are going to likely be forced into another shameful u turn.

Of course then it will be said he'd listened if he does.

A pity he didn't wait for the NHS pay body's recommendations, before he ever tried to get away with just 1%.

I am sure she will be able to get a job at Amazon

i don't feel we can view nhs staff pay reviews in the same way as we would previously have done after the year we have had.

I do feel that they should be rewarded. They put their lives on the line. Something that wasn't conceivable 2 years ago. The problem the government has is that it is such a huge organisation, a small increase equates to a mountain of cash.

What he really thinks and intends to do, completely often different from what he actually says at the time.

This Nurse has now found out his deceit and that you can't politically believe a word he says near all the time.

That is my experience too - some great ones but a lot who could not give tuppence

The Tories have treated the NHS and it's workers with utter contempt masquerading as cheap gratitude. 'Yes, we'll clap for you but don't expect any real rewards for your herculean efforts. You've died for us, you've risked your mental health, you've sacrificed, but here's some people banging pots and pans on their door step. That's better than a pay rise, yeah?'

Johnson is currently selling off the NHS in private, with 49 GP surgeries currently owned by US health insurance companies. There won't be an NHS left within 20 years. I used t think the GBP would revolt if ever this happened, but as long as the gov says they have to do it to stop (insert group of people) taking advantage, then we'll fall straight into it. That doesn't mean that anyone cheering them on will be exempt from receiving the same service as the rest of us, either.

Money for nukes and new yachts, but not the people that prop up the country.

Probably just trying to follow the guidelines, do their job and keep everyone safe.
