For what working myself into the floor?... lol!

Kizzy I hope the extra hours weren't forced on you, especially if you're feeling run into the ground!!

Anyway I'm not sure how the Star's idea would work - can we expect people to be okay with giving up a fifth of their wages? Or should businesses give them a paid day off a week?

When it comes to big business bloated corporatiins I'm all for the latter :joker: maybe a compromise could be making the paid day off tax-deductible when it comes to employees whose coming in carries a carbon footprint.

Cherie 29-05-2021 08:31 AM

I work 3 days a week so I am helping twice over

Yes.

There's a Scandinavian country or two that enforce strict work limits and it seems to work quite well. I think it's the future really.

Yes I heard the same.

Mystic Mock 29-05-2021 01:05 PM

If it works as a model then it should be the way forward imo.

Wasn’t this laughed at when labour suggested it?

I used to work different shifts before, but I love this one.
Because I get three days off a week.

Toy Soldier 29-05-2021 04:44 PM

I could do the same work I do in 5 days over the course of 3 days if I spent those days fully concentrating... but I dunno which I prefer to be honest. On balance, I think I prefer 5 days with the option of taking things at a more leisurely pace then 3 intense days and 2 extra days off .

But then, my days off when wife and kids aren’t around don’t look much different to my working days :joker:. “Arsing about on the internet all day” either way... just with some work stuff and Teams meetings thrown into the mix on work days.

bitontheslide 29-05-2021 04:49 PM

with people now having the opportunity to work from home, i'm not sure what effect having a 4 day week would have. Are they suggesting we switch every device off on the 5th day, cause that's not going to happen

When I was retail management I could get a full week’s hours done (39 hours) over 3 days... 2x 14h and 1x 11h. It was usually 4 days though, two long shifts and two cushy little evening shifts of 5.5h.

I also worked a full Saturday every week so I had tonnes of weekdays off.

I didn’t mind shift patterns to be fair... though overall I do prefer 9-5.
