Opinion On Tattoos

Thoughts on Tattoos and would you ever get one?.
I always liked tattoos, especially if they tell a story and look nice & creative.

Well I'm covered in them (okay not "covered" but a sleeve and a half, soon to be two sleeves, and a couple more little ones dotted around). Mine mostly all have big meaning to me but there are a few things like roses just to fill space and look "nice". I mostly have objects and the like relating to my family and my life/job/interests.

Obviously I don't like every tattoo I see, far from it, but when they're done well they can be really breath-taking, especially portraits.

I especially LOVE how nowadays many women in particular are having beautiful designs after having life-saving mastectomy surgery on their breasts. Covering their scars with flowers and other beautiful objects - it's really wonderful. Tattooing really isn't taboo or seen as this awful thing anymore which is great to see.

Soon to be starting [fingers crossed, pandemic-allowing] a tattoo apprenticeship also, something I've always wanted to do since I was a teen many moons ago. I had my last tattoo, a big, ferocious roaring lion portrait in a six hour session, back in September (I think) and know the shop owner who was tattooing me from my childhood and she had seen my artwork and asked me on the spot if I wanted to do it - nearly snatched her hand off. A new challenge art-wise, would love to be able to one day be professional. Just got to wait for the shop to catch up with all of their rescheduled appointments from the lockdowns. :fc:

Not bothered.
I would never ever have one myself however.

Yeah it's interesting how people now get tattoos to cover scars up . I use to always prefer the jet black tattoos but I've seen some really pretty colourful tattoos on both men & women  :).

I use to think about getting a tattoo, but not sure I'd stand the pain plus my skin is too sensitive. If I ever braved it then it would have to be tiny pretty ones e.g roses , blossom trees or hearts.

I've never been fussed about Tattoos either way tbh.

Love them, I only have one but I’m dying to get more, I’m not a big fan of stupid tattoos that don’t mean anything

smudgie 30-05-2021 09:26 PM

I don’t have any now.
I had them all removed with a scalpel years ago.:hehe:

Beso 30-05-2021 11:38 PM

I would only tattoo myself(due to the state of most tattoo artists faces), unfortunately I was useless at art at school, so I dont bother.

rusticgal 30-05-2021 11:48 PM

I don’t have any...but the right design can look nice.

I have plenty and they all mean something to me. People tell me they like them thanks to that Old School style they are made from. Even the one I got done at 15 and my parents were not aware of :laugh (thanks to my sister who signed the papers...)

Nicky91 31-05-2021 04:54 PM

depends on design, but some can look beautiful

i loved watching Ink Master  some talented tattoo artists there (also our dutch/flemish version i followed too, also very enjoyable that was)

GOOD tattoos can look great if they suit that person's style. Bad/mediocre tattoos tbh always look tacky... which if I'm being honest is the majority of tattoos you see. Chavvy tribal tattoos up people's arms or lame "phrases" with wonky writing.

i find some tattoos absolutely bizarre, and i think some people become addicted to getting them which i find odd too, but each to their own

Ammi 01-06-2021 10:12 AM

…I imagine that many people may get COVID tattoos who haven’t had a tattoo before…

bots 01-06-2021 11:37 AM
