If a picture of the Queen makes them feel uncomfortable how will they ever get through life.

bots 09-06-2021 09:02 AM

i'm not going to get all hot and bothered about them removing a picture, who cares, and why is it front page news

joeysteele 09-06-2021 09:06 AM

Actually, I don't agree with the majority of them voting for this.
However they voted to remove it from for their time there, THEIR common room.
They should be able to say who and what is in their common room.

They've just had it removed.
Their reasoning not what I'd agree with but more of them voted to have it removed.

It's a bit rich of politicians making noises about this and disrespect for the Queen, when we operate a Parliament, where all MPs have to swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen, yet the Commons in parliament is the one place in her realm the Queen isn't allowed to enter voluntarily and is in fact barred from.

Utter tripe.

If only people got outraged over things that matter. And that goes for both sides.

Beso 09-06-2021 10:18 AM

Shouldn't they be learning ?

user104658 09-06-2021 10:30 AM

Some students: "We don't like this portrait and are taking it down from our living space."

Bwitish press: "STUDENTS ARE CANCELLING THE QUEEN!!!"

Only the Daily Mail could try to stir up an outrage about people taking down a painting. I pity the gullible little idiots that eat this **** up and get mad about it.

"OUTRAGE AS STUDENTS VOTE TO AXE QUEEN"

"Oxford students sparked anger"

"Education Secretary condemned the move"

"Lord Patten called it offensive and obnoxiously ignorant"

"HOW DARE THEY!"

"Oxford students cancel our queen!"

"STUDENTS sparked FURY last night by taking down a portrait of the queen"

... and that's just a quick scan over a couple of front page screenshots...

If you want evidence of some REALLY peeved-sounding individuals, try the DM comments :joker:

Imagine moving into a house and being told you can’t paint the walls because it would be disrespectful to the previous owners
