Amazon horror stories.

What is your worst experience, or the worst thing you've heard about working conditions, etc, with this consumer giant.

Amy Jade 15-06-2021 09:55 PM

bought my mum a Vivienne Westwood watch from them, cost £140 and the delivery guy knocked once and left it on the driveway outside despite the porch being open - I went straight to the door and he was already in his van.

I genuinely thought I'd have to sign for such an expensive item or he'd wait a few seconds.

Not a major complaint and I never complained but I thought it was an odd choice to leave a parcel out in the open instead of on the porch or better still inside it.

I always think it's best to make a day out of buying an expensive present like that by actually visiting the shop.

Its your own fault amy jade.

It was £40 cheaper on amazon and we have prime why would I spend more and waste petrol?

It was a surprise and I spend plenty of time with my mum thank you. I don't need to drag her to London which she doesn't even enjoy

Another issue is things can get broken whilst in their vans or being passed through, thankfully that hasn't happened often with me .

My auntie ordered my cousin a barbie a while back and it came in like a designer box that you opened like a shoe box with paper and when my cousin looked at the doll it's jacket and shoes were missing and it's curly hair had been burned trying to straighten it :laugh2:

They replaced it but wtf had happened there!

The troubling thing is, Amazon is so rich that if it got stolen and you said you never got it, they'll usually just refund it (or send a replacement) and never bother even looking into it.

How strange sounds like they ruined the poor doll's hair:conf:,well atleast you got a replacement.

As an Amazon user I always read reviews on Amazon which were weird, and off-putting which use to make me think twice before buying the particular item, especially if the star ratings were mostly low.

But you just never know with these things, you could buy the same product as one person. And you could have a good experience but the other person could have a terrible one  .

I didnt recieve an item so contacted them and they said I had to send the item back to get a refund

Use their live chat and if you get a dumb one (send back an item that didn't arrive? ) you just close the page and start a new chat until you get the answer you want :joker:.

To be fair though I've had a Prime subscription for 6 years and (shockingly) I think we spend about £5k+ a year on Amazon so they pretty much suck us off as soon as we launch a query.

I quite like it anyway makes me sound very sophisticated

No problems with Amazon, the drivers tend to leave it on the step and walk away, this is covid related, i'e unnecessary touching, to protect themselves as much as anything, and in covid times there is no signing, I think if someone doesn't turn out to pick it up by the time they are back in the van they would probably return but in the times we are in with people working from home I would say 9 times out of 10 there is someone indoors

They stuff mine in the shed if no one is home but I think I might have set something up on my account many years ago saying to do that . The bottom part of the door pulls open a bit even when it's locked so you can sort of wedge it and chuck something in then let it close and it would be hard to get it back out without the key. A perfectly secure system :joker:.
