Boy, 11 said Alms to Teacher thought he said ARMS - Reported the Lad
[Boy, 11, referred to Prevent for wanting
to give ‘alms to the oppressed’ Teachers contact counter-radicalisation programme after mistakenly believing he said ‘arms’ The boy’s teacher asked what pupils would do if they found themselves in possession of a lot of money. According to a legal challenge against the school lodged by the boy’s parents, he said he would “give alms to the oppressed”. The teacher interpreted this as “give arms to the oppressed” and made the Prevent referral. When police received the referral they said there was no substance to it, no sign of radicalisation, extremist views or any threat to national security and closed the case.] Get your Ears Cleaned you sloppy Teacher https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...-the-oppressed https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2021/06...4868354694.jpg https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...d-PREVENT.html |
Bit reactionary to report an 11 year old even if he did say arms I would have thought? Obviously don't agree with the teachers actions (surely she should have asked him to clarify what he meant first?) but I could see why she might have heard arms, alms is a strange choice of words, it's a pretty old fashioned kind of a word to use
I think the only time I've ever heard that word used was in Robinhood Prince of Thieves |
Personally I'd be asking the teacher what her problem is.
