Should workers be allowed to go home early today to watch the football?

According to Keirs stammers they should.

But what do you think?

Livia 29-06-2021 10:35 AM

Yes, of course.

arista 29-06-2021 10:36 AM

It Depends if the
the work has to be done for the next day.

ThomasC 29-06-2021 10:38 AM

No and why would you?

If you’re a big fan then book the A\L for it

Livia 29-06-2021 10:39 AM

People could be given the opportunity to make up the time?

Crimson Dynamo 29-06-2021 10:45 AM

of course

employers should be flexible and canny

Only if can be allowed to go home early to watch Drag Race

user104658 29-06-2021 10:51 AM

I've been known to book AL for game releases but you can't reliably do it any more because they NEVER release when they're supposed to :joker:.

Redway 29-06-2021 11:16 AM

If their work’s non-essential, why not?

bots 29-06-2021 11:19 AM

it's only a football match

Because it (falsely) places football as being of higher importance than countless other events that other people would want leave for... and giving extra leave for ALL of those events is unrealistic. No to extra privileges for football yobs. By all means, companies could add an extra three holiday days a year to be taken as "standalone event days" or whatever, to be spent how the employee chooses.

Cherie 29-06-2021 11:22 AM

of course they should, just like kids get to watch matches during the day at school if they are early :D:

i imagine the next world cup in Qatar will have some matches at very strange times, so that will be interesting

joeysteele 29-06-2021 11:25 AM

Yes, absolutely.

bots 29-06-2021 11:27 AM

in this day and age with video on demand, there is just no necessity to watch the match as it actually happens. That's the whole point of video on demand is it not

Liam- 29-06-2021 11:27 AM

Given time off work.. to watch football? I can’t even comprehend how ridiculous that concept is

No because it doesn't start at 5 so the yobs who watch drag race don't need to leave early :hee:

in the france game last night, the commentator mentioned at least 4 times that he wasn't going to spoil the spain result for those that hadn't watched it yet

To be fair, it can be hard to avoid hearing a sports result if you don't watch it live, especially something like an international game where you're going to have topless chavs parading the streets chanting about it if it's a win.

My dad loves (to this day) telling a tale from about 30 years ago, where he had recorded a Celtic game to watch when we got home from shopping, and a neighbour stopped him as we got out of the car to ask if he watched the game. He said no, and not to tell him the score as he was about to watch a recording... to which the neighbour said "Ahh OK I won't spoil it - but it was a boring game anyway, there weren't any goals".

This is basically his all-time favourite "dad story".
