My top 100 Video Games of all time.
Basically I'm just ripping off Alf & Shaun's threads of their favourite Sitcoms/Songs but instead of those topics I'm picking Video Games instead as it is my favourite hobby.
I'm not doing the one Game per franchise rule because some franchises have multiple great Games that sometimes end up getting overlooked by doing a one Game per franchise rule on lists. And if you just want to skip to the top 10 of my list then I don't blame you. I'm no professional critic by any means so I will naturally be showing a bias in my list rather than judging the Games on how well made they are. And on a side note this list has some very controversial/unpopular opinions so I'm ready for the abuse. Anyway starting at 100. 100. Slender: The Arrival Genres - Survival Horror It's not the best Game in the Survival Horror genre imo, but I personally really enjoyed the Game alot, and I do remember the Game having a decent challenge to it. 99. Kirby: Triple Deluxe Genres - Action, Platformer It's a really fun Game for the 3DS imo. The only thing that needs a little tweaking is the difficulty needs to be raised slightly. 98. Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric Genres - Action-Adventure, Platformer It's definitely an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed playing Rise Of Lyric. I actually liked some of the differences that the Game has compared to the main series. Plus it was meant to be a spin-off. 97. Blue Dragon Genres - RPG I'm not really a big Xbox fan tbh. However I did really enjoy Blue Dragon. For me I really liked some of the characters in Blue Dragon, plus it was one of the first JRPG's that I'd played so nostalgia is probably giving it an extra spot or two higher. 96. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Genres - Action-Adventure, TPS, Platformer I love most Uncharted Games. 95. Super Mario 3D Land Genres - Platformer It is the only mainline Mario Game that I've properly played. The Game suffers with being too easy early on, but the level designs are really good(in particular the Boo levels) that it more than makes up for that flaw imo. I'll carry on my list a bit later as something has come up. Hopefully nobody takes the list too personally, although I doubt that many people will care about this thread. |
94. GTA IV
Genres - Action-Adventure For me personally I really liked GTA IV. I know that the Game did divide some people But for me I really liked the story, characters, And the gameplay, plus all of the bonus content too. [B]93. Sonic Colours[B/] Genres - Platformer, Action-Adventure It's a really solid Sonic Game with a really clever mechanic with the Wisps. Hopefully the Sonic Colours Ultimate Remaster will recapture what made the original version so much fun to play in the first place. 92. Mafia II Genres - Action-Adventure Alot of people just dismiss the Mafia franchise as being a "GTA clone" and whilst it does share some basic elements in common with GTA, it also has some differences. For starters the story is much more serious in tone in Mafia versus the satire approach that GTA uses. Plus I tend to find that Mafia II in particular is much more linear compared to GTA with well over a dozen side missions in most of their entries compared to Mafia II. Getting back on track Mafia II is a really solid Video Game imo. I'll be doing more later now as I'm getting tired lol (if you couldn't already tell in this post) hopefully people are enjoying the list, I know I am but then I'm biased.:joker: See you all in a few hours time. |
91. Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare
Genres - Survival Horror I'm very much someone that's pretty new to this Game as I played on my PS3 a couple of years ago and I had such a great time with it. My favourite part in the Game is when you're Playing as Edward in the Library and without spoiling too much of the fight, you'll get a nasty Boss fight that does some dirty tricks lets put it that way. 90. Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood Genres - RPG I haven't played this Game for a long time because like another Game coming up on this list my original copy sadly broke. But away from that now, I remember this Game being quite interesting, I remember the Game having BioWare's multiple choice dialogue options that were a smaller scale attempt at trying to be Mass Effect or Dragon Age. I just remember really enjoying the Game at the time, although sadly I could never beat the Game at the time. 89. GTA: Chinatown Wars Genres - Action-Adventure Again another Game where sadly my copy of the Game broke on me lol. I also failed to beat this Game as well, but I remember loving the location so much. I've got some stuff that I need to do so I'll do more of this list tomorrow. |
We better be seeing worms and hogs of war and dizzy..
|
And tiger woods.
|
And Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love For Sail!
Obviously. |
So far have only played one of those.

I've never even heard of Sonic: The Dark Brotherhood but all I'm imagining is a Sonic/Skyrim crossover
Astrid: You must kill the Jarl of Whiterun and all his children Sonic: hehe gotta go fast :) |
My top 100 list would be entirely retro games.

88. Final Fantasy XIII
Genres - RPG For me personally I've only played two FF Games properly and most of my experience with the series has been through family members playing the series. For me I enjoyed playing FFXIII despite it's flaws, and to me I enjoyed most of the characters that were in the Game. 87. The Sinking City Genres - Action-Adventure, Survival Horror The Sinking City is a really interesting Game it's a blend of Sherlock Holmes and Silent Hill imo (apparently also inspired by Lovecraft) it's an Indie Game so the combat is a bit ropey but the deductions and the overall story is what I personally enjoyed the most about The Sinking City. 86. NanoTek Warrior Genres - Tube Shooter For me NanoTek Warrior was and still is one of the most unique Video Games that I've personally ever played, and it was a load of fun to play imo. It won't appeal to everyone, but I personally really enjoyed the Game and would love a re-release for the Game. 85. FIFA Football 2005 Genres - Sports FIFA 05 was the first FIFA Game that I ever played and probably a controversial entry on this list. The Game is probably dated as **** by today's standards, but I remember loving this Game as a kid. Heck if EA want to re-release this Game then I wouldn't object. I will be leaving it there for now, I understand that I'm probably picking some weird choices at the moment, but I promise that I have got some big hitters further down the list. Hopefully everyone has been having a good day. |

84. My Hero One's Justice
Genres - Fighting In fairness My Hero One's Justice might lose some of it's charm if you've never watched the My Hero Academia Anime, but as someone that's a big fan of the Anime I really got a kick out of the Game. And in fairness there is alot of different modes to choose from. Story Mode which follows the storyline in Seasons 2 & 3 of the Anime. Online Mode which is self explanatory. Mission Mode which makes you create a team of three and you level your characters up in an RPG styled mode. And the classic Arcade Mode. 83. Enslaved: Odyssey To The West Genres - Action-Adventure I really enjoyed this Game so much, sadly it didn't sell very well, but I remember the story being surprisingly quite interesting, and the Gameplay was alot of fun at the time. 82. Outlast 2 Genres - Survival Horror A more violent entry than the original Game, Outlast 2 really will divide some people because of that very aspect. However I personally found the Game to be a load of fun, and it still had it's frightening moments that leaves you as a panicked mess afterwards. Imo a really solid Game. 81. Layers Of Fear Genres - Psychological Horror Okay Layers Of Fear is probably the most unique Horror Game that I've ever played. The Game doesn't really do Action scenes, and it has alot of moments in the Game where you're not even running away from enemies. What Layers Of Fear is really good at imo is atmosphere, storytelling, and the Puzzles aren't to bad either. This Game is highly controversial, but I personally really enjoyed the Game. 80. Shadow The Hedgehog Genres - Platformer, Action-Adventure, Third Person Shooter (TPS doesn't feel right as an abbreviation) Okay I'm probably gonna get alot of stick for this one, but I honestly don't get the issue with Shadow The Hedgehog as a Game. Imo the levels are fun, there's multiple endings, and Sega's attempt at swearing in the Sonic franchise will always be a highlight in my eyes. The only controversy I do understand is the darker tone as obviously that's a personal preference thing, but the way some Sonic fans go on you would think that this Game didn't have anything going for it, heck I'd say Games (not just in the Sonic franchise) that are much more simple in level design, difficulty, and even the story get given an easier time of it in the Video Game industry than Shadow The Hedgehog does which I think is really harsh imo. In fairness it is probably dated by today's standards, but I think that I'll always defend the Game when it does have some strong stuff in the Game. 79. Knack Genres - Platformer, Beat Em Up I know again that this Game gets some stick on the Internet, but I thought that it was a really fun Game with a decent story by Platformer standards. Plus as much as I love my Sonic Games, and appreciate how well made the mainline Mario Games are, it is still nice when a new ip enters the fold as it keeps the big two on their toes. 78. Knack II Genres - Action, Platformer The sequel is definitely more polished in the Gameplay department versus the original Knack. But the twist in the Game was fun, if not a bit predictable. 77. Assault Gunners HD Edition Genres - Action, Shooter, Mecha This is basically Gundam the Video Game lol. In all seriousness though it is a really fun Game, and Ghost is basically like Nemesis from Resi 3 where you dread her presence in any of the levels as she is quite intimidating to put it lightly. There are secret missions you can do in the Game as well, but I weren't good enough to unlock them.:joker: That's it for now, I'll try to do some more later if I have the time. |
I really like Shadow The Hedgehog too and I don't get all the hate for it either, same thing with Sonic Heroes (I think I like this one even more than Shadow).
A lot of complaints were about Shadow using guns, which I don't really get because you don't have to use them, you can just play through the game attacking enemies in the traditional way instead. |

76. BioShock 2
Genres - First Person Shooter BioShock 2 has a really strong story and gameplay imo. Overall a really fun Game, and Rapture is always a really interesting location to explore. 75. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time Genres - Platformer It was nice to play a new Crash Bandicoot Game with the old school gameplay mechanics of the first four Games. Hopefully Activision have got their act into gear and will release new Crash Games more regularly. 74. Crash Bandicoot Genres - Platformer With classic levels like Slippery Climb and Road To Nowhere, this Game couldn't be missed off my list. I'll do some more of my list in the afternoon or evening if possible anyway. |
…all looking good so far, Mock……this will be an iconic list…

73. Crash Bandicoot: Warped
Genres - Platformer I think that Crash: Warped is the most popular Game in the franchise and I can understand why as the level designs are varied, and the Game is very polished imo. Imo you can't beat Naughty Dog's vision for Crash Bandicoot for the franchise. 72. Luigi's Mansion 3 Genres - Action-Adventure It's a very well made Game that is fun to play, and the level designs and the Gooigi aspect are both really strong. The only thing that I'd say about the Game that's negative is some of the combat in the Game can be really clunky for my tastes (especially the rubber ducky fight) but the Game isn't too combat heavy thankfully. 71. Yakuza Kiwami Genres - Action-Adventure The start of Kiryu's OTT but brilliant journey. I've picked the Kiwami remake because I've simply never played the original version on the PS2. For me this Game takes a couple of levels to warm up, but when it does it's really fun to play with quite a few Side Stories to play through if you wish, and a really good story if you can get past how OTT the Yakuza series can be. Overall this franchise deserves more love imo. 70. Sonic And The Black Knight Genres - Platformer, Action-Adventure, Hack And Slash I know that this Game gets stick by some people, but for me it has an awesome soundtrack, a fantastic final boss, and I personally enjoy anything to do with Arthurian Legend so that's another tick for the Game in my eyes. Also I liked Sonic and Caliburn's dynamic with each other. 69. Kid Chameleon Genres - Platformer Kid Chameleon is an old school Platformer that has a very infamous level nicknamed by the fandom as the "Impossible Level" which of course is an exaggeration as you can beat the level if you're really skillful at the Game, or like me who got incredibly lucky.:joker: Kid Chameleon is a really fun Game though, especially if you're lucky enough to have a shot at the Impossible Level. 68. Sonic Spinball Genres - Action, Pinball It's 4 levels of absolute mayhem. For me it's a brutal Game but also a lot of fun, but then I like Pinball Games anyway. 67. Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life Genres - Action-Adventure They shut Kiryu's story down really well imo. Plus there are some really strong Supernatural (not the TV Show) based Sub Stories in the Game which were really fun if you wanted Kiryu's journey to last a little bit longer. A really solid Game either way. 66. Sonic The Hedgehog Genres - Platformer Yes another Sonic Game lol. In all honesty though this Game is a really strong outing imo, especially when you take into account that the Game is 30 years old and the fact that it was the first installment (which can normally have teething issues) but for the most part Sonic The Hedgehog overcomes both hurdles and be a really fun Game to play in my view. 65. Silent Hill 3 Genres - Survival Horror Oh how I wish Konami could find the lost code for the early Silent Hill Games. Silent Hill 3 imo has a couple of flaws here or there, but looking back on the Game it does have some decent boss fights, and it has some memorable dialogue from Vincent in the Game without spoiling what he actually said.:laugh And the story overall is just really solid imo. 64. Dino Crisis Genres - Survival Horror You called it Dogeatdog well done. Dino Crisis was a classic Game for the PS1 (if not a bit overlooked) tbh I've never beat Dino Crisis because I remember missing a code to open up one of the doors quite late in the Game. However just because I didn't beat the Game doesn't stop it from being a really strong Horror Game that deserves a re-release or remake for the modern Consoles. 63. Telltale The Walking Dead Season 1 Genres - Graphic Adventure, Interactive Drama This Game has got to be the biggest surprise that I've ever had when I actually liked this Video Game. I only bought this Game because I liked Telltale's Batman Games, I'd never really shown much interest in TWD Games because I wasn't very keen on the TV Show. However what I liked about the Video Games (especially the first Season) but it still applies to all of them to some extent, is that there was an actual story beyond who's in love with who, and you get the sense that Lee and Clementine are both gonna play an important part in each other's journey rather than the TV Show writing alot of characters into the Show who never really did much from what I saw of the programme. Plus the Games are much better paced than the TV Show too imo, you never feel like nothing is happening in the Game unlike the TV Show where seasons can go by where nothing interesting is happening. Anyway the first Season of the Game has some great characters, story, and the farm level with the St Johns family is better than the Farm stuff from the TV Show. That's it for now anyway, I hope that you guys enjoyed the update to the list. |

62. Beach Buggy Racing
Genres - Kart Racing I've only just found out that they've made two more Beach Buggy Racing Games.:joker: It's an Indie Game so it's not got the budget that Mario Kart has, but it's still a lot of fun imo, and Vector Unit as a company have in my eyes shown that they've got a lot of talent to make such a strong alternative to Mario Kart that I mention them both in the same sentence and Beach Buggy Racing is respectably holding it's own for me. 61. ModNation Racers Genres - Kart Racing As good as the story mode is, my favourite thing about ModNation Racers is the fact that you can create your own levels. For me I love still to this day just building giant fences in the middle of the track just to throw my friends & family off.:joker: A classic Game for me, and again it can handle it's own with Mario Kart which is incredible when other Kart Racers can do that. 60. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe Genres - Kart Racing There's so much content in this Game that it's hard not to like the Game. I'll try and do some more later. |
5 games now.

Mario party 1-5

59. BioShock Infinite
Genres - First Person Shooter A very different outing for BioShock as it's a very trippy experience (especially the ending) but for me personally I really liked the different flavour that the Game brought to the table for the franchise. 58. Resident Evil 5 Genres - Third Person Shooter Okay this Game is controversial for a couple of reasons. 1. Is the fact some people found the Game to be racist because of Chris Redfield killing black villagers in an African village. To me racism is portraying all of one group (or multiple groups) in a bad light through numerous ways, to me having a Virus infecting an African village is realistic as Viruses that are really infectious don't just pick and choose which groups to target. And in RE's lore the T-Virus and many of it's variants are meant to be fast spreading around the world, so why can't the Virus have spread to Africa? Fair enough if the Game had've had the player killing black people for no reason whatsoever as there is a legit complaint of racism there, but speaking for myself I never got the impression that Capcom were sitting there being like "lets live out some fantasy of killing black people in a Video Game" people are free to disagree with me on that obviously. 2. Is that the Game wasn't "Horror enough" which is a legit complaint imo as it is the least scary Resident Evil Game that I've personally ever played. I actually used to dislike RE5 because of the lack of any Horror when I first played the Game, however when I replayed it a couple of years ago I actually appreciated how well made the Game is, and how fun it is to play. The lack of Horror is still a flaw for a Resident Evil Game, but if you can get past that then imo it's a really strong Game to experience, and imo it wouldn't be too controversial I feel (besides the racism tag that some people sadly give it) if it weren't given the Resi name. 57. Resident Evil 6 Genres - Action-Adventure, Third Person Shooter Speaking of controversial Resident Evil titles I don't think that you can beat RE6 which had a Metacritic userscore of 0.4/10 when it first came out. Again the Game lacking any real Horror moments (away from Leon's mode) was a massive criticism for this Game. But for me personally I really enjoyed RE6 and it's four campaigns, sure it could've done with more Horror, but again if this Game weren't tagged as a Resident Evil Game I feel that most people would be alot softer towards the Game as it's really fun to play imo. I'm finished for now, I'll aim to do more in the afternoon. |
