Behold the £2m 'hill of rubble': new Marble Arch Mound already giving refunds
From the You could not make it up vaults..
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...eg?imwidth=760 The Marble Arch Mound has been dismissed as a "hill of rubble" for its sparse and unfinished appearance after opening to visitors on Monday. The attraction seems to be an unlikely contender to win shoppers back to the West End after repeated lockdowns. The £2m cost of the Westminster City Council project has also come in for criticism. Admission to the 25-metre viewing platform costs between £4.50 and £8. Designed by Dutch architectural firm MVRDV (heaven forbid they used a UK firm) Announcing the project in February, MVRDV founding partner Winy Maas said the project was a "wonderful opportunity to give an impulse to a highly recognisable location in London." (BS) "By adding this landscape element, we make a comment on the urban layout of the Marble Arch, and by looking to the site’s history, we make a comment on the area’s future."
