[COVID-19: Lib Dems demand recall of parliament
for vote on 'deceitful' and 'botched' vaccine passports plan

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey accuses the
government of "committing to vaccine passports by stealth",
but some Tory MPs contacted by Sky News say they
think the prime minister is bluffing about introducing
vaccine passports in a bid to increase vaccine ]

He is Bonkers

Oliver_W 31-07-2021 08:37 AM

Eh. If places want to see a vaccine card showing you've had both before they allow entry ... How is that not a vaccine passport by stealth?

It is not by Stealth
The medical team will give the UK
a TV broadcast soon.

USA
and EU nations are doing the same.
No need to recall parliament.

a study needs to be done on the impact all this has on privacy. There is time before september/october to do that.

People are not thinking logically at the moment because of the near constant scaremongering

Toy Soldier 31-07-2021 11:02 AM

I'm not HUGE on covid conspiracies but honestly I suspect a lot of recent goings on have been in bids to drive vaccination. First "scaring" for people to get a move on if they plan to get one "eventually" - then restricting for unvaxxed to encourage people who would never have bothered to get one but have no real fears about getting one.

The section they'll have trouble with are those who genuinely are afraid of the vaccine. Vaccine passport requirements aren't going to be enough to convince those people.

I recall the truly disaster of a leader, deluded Swinson saying the same thing.
In the actual election.
Ended up a seat less and lost the defectors the Lib Dems had gained too.

Seems Davey is heading down her road too.

Boris has left judgement as a moral judgement for the individual to judge their own morality.

Covid passports will never be a thing in the uk

Only the SNP has Scotland at present and for the likely foreseeable future, however one other certain thing that is also good about that, is the SNP would never assist a Con government into power.
No way.

No way.

The SNP would rather the TORIES lay dying for 40 hours hoping an ambulance would come, than assist a TORIE government into power.

Of course.

But the conservatives know that.

My Point is Labour needs more in Scotland
to get in power.

Not really.
Around 20 more seats in 2017 could have seen a Labour government with SNP support.

To win outright, yes they'd need Scotland, however as I said, the SNP strong in Scotland would ensure an a hung parliament, no way would they put the Cons in.

In fact other than the DUP, I doubt any party would now.
Even the Lib Dems.

Quite honestly, I would be happy totally to see Labour get to a position where with SNP support, it had overall votes in parliament.

I actually think it could be an efficient, compassionate and good example of what governments could be under a PR system.

Anything that will get this in my view, detestable government out of power.

There's boundary changes expected soon too which will again help the Cons to around 10 more seats, reducing Labour by a few.
So with Scotland or not, It is extremely unlikely to even dream of an outright win anyhow for Labour.

However enough seats from England and Wales for Labour, plus support from a strong force of SNP members to Westminster.
That would please me no end.

Because the Lib Dems seem to still be doing this not working with anyone, still deluded they could win an election themselves.
Such as under the unbelievably poor Swinson.
Trusting the Lib Dems still now is unwise in my view.
I hoped for better from Ed Davey, although doubted it.
So far he's confirming the latter for me.
Nothing better really.

Ari, you could have started a new thread for this year's Conference instead of bumping a two year old thread.
