…I GOT A TEXT…!!!!!!….oh, it cost me £568….

…those re-roamers, eh….

The first network to block roaming charges will end up with a huge influx of customers. A little healthy competition...

Toy Soldier 09-08-2021 12:47 PM

They'll make it a £5 "bolt on" and if you forget to add it before you go away you'll be charged a fortune.

LeatherTrumpet 09-08-2021 12:58 PM

its costing a family of 4 £300 in covid tests to travel to Europe so I doubt this will bother anyone

:joker:

…text from home if you can and only text outside if you must…anyone who can’t text from home should be actively discouraged from texting outside…but if you can’t text from home, text outside…don’t text outside…

a couple of the networks have already said they will charge £2 a day roaming charge, and the other networks will fall into line, i'm sure

£28 for a 2 week holiday which is pretty steep... but I'm convinced this is so that they can sell a £5/week bolt on and make that seem "like a great deal" as it works out as about 70p/day.

For those doing a lot of international travel, inevitably there will be contract options with roaming built-in eventually, probably for an extra £10 a month.

…it’s all an extra Brexit charge/expense…making things less and less affordable for low incomes …a little charge here, a little charge there and oh, we can’t afford to go anywhere etc….

Ammi 09-08-2021 01:39 PM

…or similar to what Dezzy said…all of those years of progressing to a more affordable and assessable ‘smaller’ world for so many….and oooops, we’re heading further away again…

If you were eligible to vote but didn’t and would have voted remain, you are just as culpable as those who voted leave imo

Oliver_W 09-08-2021 02:14 PM

Airplane mode + hotel WiFi or hotspots + WhatsApp + other social media.

A charge for mugs.

It doesn’t stop the phone companies from being scum bags

they were obviously making plenty money anyway so yeah I agree, I turn my phone off when I am away so its not a huge deal for me, and as long as they don't charge for Whatapp I should be fine

WhatsApp uses data, if just text not as much, bit photos/videos/call/video calling seems to use a tonne

arista 09-08-2021 03:01 PM

This is Not brexit

It is a Covid-19 charge
Poxy China.

Ammi 09-08-2021 03:13 PM

…it isn’t COVID related, Arista…it’s poxy Brexit related…the gift that keeps on taking…and especially from those who were struggling already…

Travellers from the UK had been able to escape roaming charges thanks to a ban on the fees throughout the European Union since 2017.

But the trade deal brokered between the bloc and the UK did not allow for Britons to keep this advantage.

Its Both
Covid and Brexit.

Covid shutting them down
loss of money input etc.
