What would you wear for a day at the races.

I am going to York races in a few weeks.

People are expecting me to wear Barbour and checked shirts with shoes and funky coloured trousers.

They are expecting to much, are they not?

What would you wear.?

Crimson Dynamo 16-08-2021 05:04 PM

My Brown leather brogues, green moleskin troosers, a yellow green checked country shirt, green tie and my Barbour

Shaun 16-08-2021 05:06 PM

i would not go as I'm not generally a fan of killing horses for sport x

Is that you jay?

Seriously though, that's the look I'm trying to avoid.

A face mask

If the weather is hot, then a t shirt and a pair or shorts.

If it's cold, a pair of jeans and a jumper, maybe even a coat.

I certainly wouldn't be getting dressed up to go watch the gee gees. It's not a wedding, It's grass fields full of horse sh!t.

I went to York races as part of a Stag do. That horrifying moment you wake up in the morning and have no idea what you won or lost :worry:

the answer was all the money I took which was about 300 sovs - mind you most of that was drink cash as it was pricey. My mate Dunc punched a guy at the station and Billy fell off a scafolding thing and broke his collarbone.

All in all it was a great stag :hee:

so many good looking women so take your glasses

You just remembered me my last time at the races.

Kelso was the track and it was my sisters 50th birthday...I had came up to surprise her..

So I'm wandering around the race course on a sunny ladies day, with a bottle of champagne for her.

Took about 3 laps of the full stand and surrounding areas for me to find her..

I was gaping at everyone, squinting in the sun, looking like an old perv, as I eyed the ladies up and down from afar, to see if she popped out in the crowd..

Not once or twice mind, but 3 times:bawling: Each lap a little more breathless than the last, I must have looked like a panting dog wanting to mount another leg on the third lap

Last time I went to the races…many years ago…we spent the whole time in the bar. On the train journey home my boyfriend threw some mouthy girls hat out of the window and she ended up hitting some bloke on the head with her stiletto heal…by the time we drew up at the station people were spilling out onto the platform fighting :hehe:….it was terrifying. Police cars arriving at the station as we made a hasty exit..:smug:
