Labour's Rosie Duffield MP harrased & branded Transphobic

Large front Page Sunday Times

Next Saturday
she has said It's unsafe for her
to go to the Brighton Conference.

Give her a Security guard.
Keir.

Cherie 19-09-2021 07:52 AM

This is life for women now..

She claims she has been branded transphobic for “knowing that only women have a cervix”. She has also pointed out that it might not be appropriate for people with male bodies who identify as women to enter female-only spaces such as lavatories and changing rooms.

user104658 19-09-2021 07:56 AM

Thread title is misleading poster, makes it sound like she's being "attacked by transphobic people" when she is in fact being "branded transphobic and attacked".

arista 19-09-2021 07:57 AM

I assume she has had Death threats
or something like that.

Can she not a have one Security Man or Women
to escort her?

Yes
thank you TS.

Angry males threaten a woman for not including them ... What else is new?

It gets so Complex
but Death Threats have scared her.

Nope, it's not complex at all - a woman acknowledges that only women can have cervix, and a bunch of angry males threaten her for it.

So nice to hear a transwoman speak about this case on LBC

her opinion is that the current trans argument regarding self identification is absurd and unfair and gives some straight and gay men a free pass to attack and belittle women ....surely not!

Miranda Yardley if anyone is interested in listening to it.

Yes I listened to that segment and she was very good and forthright

[Labour MP Rosie Duffield has slammed her own party
over its inability to discuss trans issues properly.
On the Today Programme this morning she said
this failure has led to even MPs not being certain
about the party’s policy.
The discussion comes amidst the party’s ongoing
trans rights row, and Duffield’s announcement
that she’ll be avoiding this year’s Brighton conference]

This is happening across the board and is a mess. For medical staff it's an absolute nightmare, because of the following two questions;

1) "As it is against discrimination policies, could I face disciplinary action for accusations of transphobia if I follow a treatment plan for a transperson as their biological sex rather than their chosen gender?"

The answer is yes.

2) "As it goes against the scientific evidence base, could I face disciplinary action if I treat a transperson as their chosen gender rather than their biological sex, and this results in negative medical outcomes?"

The answer is also yes.

What are they supposed to do?

Bonus rock/hard place: they'd also face disciplinary action for refusing to treat at all, so you can't even opt out of the above Catch 22 situation.

arista 20-09-2021 11:59 AM

Yes TS
but the Labour Leader
needs to talk about this
it is his MP
getting death threats.

The LibDems
kicked out a woman, for example.

['trans women are not women'
Natalie Bird is suing the Lib Dems after
she was banned from running as an MP]

It's the same story. Sex is a protected characteristic, gender identity is now a protected characteristic. If (when) they clash there is no answer that doesn't leave an official body open to legal action from one side or the other (or both if they try to reach compromise) and so they will simply refuse to take a stance and kick the question into the long grass. Policy was put in place without failsafes.

Sex should always take precedent, as gender identity is imaginary and sex is material.

Would barely be worth talking about if she was a Tory. Lots of tories are confused about transphobia and transpeople in general. Labour people usually have their head together tough so this is a shame. Hopefully she’ll educate herself on the subject.

Rosie thinks she has done no wrong.

The Labour Leader
needs to sort that.

Crimson Dynamo 20-09-2021 04:50 PM

she spoke the truth and it upset people who dont want to face it

they got angry and violent - vile

And what would she learn if she were to be "re-educated"?

She's already aware that women are the only people who can have cervix, and that transwomen are male.

What is she missing?

Tbh I don't know how we as a society are gonna solve this issue tbh as it's a trickier situation compared to most political issues.

As you've said Toy Soldier, it's a Catch 22 situation.
