Smoking

Do you smoke?
Does your other half smoke?
Do your grown up kids smoke?

Nicky91 27-09-2021 08:20 AM

No

don't have to answer to those other two questions as they don't apply to me

smoking is bad

Cherie 27-09-2021 08:25 AM

No none of my family smoke

I used to smoke in my 20s but gave it up

LeatherTrumpet 27-09-2021 08:29 AM

no to all

Redway 27-09-2021 08:46 AM

I smoke but not regularly.

Redway 27-09-2021 08:47 AM

And not necessarily exclusively socially either. It’s just a rarity these days that I buy a pack but when I do they last me a while.

AnnieK 27-09-2021 09:26 AM

Nope.

Alf 27-09-2021 11:07 AM

Packed in after 16 years.
Son smokes...all ruddy sorts.
Daughter never smoked but her partner does.
Nobody is allowed to light up indoors here.

bitontheslide 27-09-2021 02:33 PM

i used to be a heavy smoker but gave it up 20 years ago

Smoked socially from age 15 - 23. Wouldn't touch 'em now.

My "peak" was first year University when I probably got through a pack of 20 in a week, but that would be over the course of 3 nights out. Other than that I doubt I ever smoked more than 10 a week.

We used to frequent a proper "old man pub" as 16 year olds and we'd sit at a regular corner table absolutely hammering back pints and chain smoking (this was pre-ban). In hindsight we must have looked ****ing ridiculous? A bunch of wee boys at the pub! Honestly it's not even THAT long ago (20 years) and I can't fathom how we got away with it. The staff knew fine well what age we were. Two of the barmaids were about 19 and remembered us from school!

I smoke 2 a day....in the evening when everyone is in bed. My boys smoke occassionally but not often and my husband hates cigarettes but puffs on a cigar on special occassions....

Daniel-X 27-09-2021 03:14 PM

Smoked every day regularly from being 15-19 and gave up January last year. I still smoke socially when I’ve had a drink and will have maybe one or two on a shift at work but not always.

I should stop again really, such a pointless/expensive/bad habit,

It is ridiculously expensive.....

I smoke, really should give up. Gav used to smoke but he's off them a few years now, neither of my kids smoke

Denver 27-09-2021 03:38 PM

I gave up in May and went over to a vape bit still spoke when drinking and may have one or 2 from a work colleague if offered

Most people who smoke regularly get through 20 in a day so stretching a pack out over a week is pretty tame still.

I imagine the reason you got away with the public smoking and drinking is because 20 years ago no one had to screen the ID of everyone who happened to look on the better side of 20. I used to get away with buying tobacco and WKD when I was around that age and that’s purely because back then this useless challenge 25 policy we have now wasn’t actively enforced. And the people behind the counter never seemed to give one so long as you looked at least the best part of school-leaving age.

I feel like they should’ve left things closer to that state of affairs. No one past the age of 21 is going to carry a spare passport around whenever they go to the shops wanting a four-pack or a can of Red Bull. This challenge 25 nonsense has 50-year-olds getting carded and refused and it’s just a waste of everyone’s time.
