Steve Coogan to play Jimmy Savile in BBC drama

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...tive-bbc-drama

Coming soon.

I think Steve can Pull it off.

[The Alan Partridge star said the decision to
portray Savile on screen was not
one he “took lightly” but the series
had “an intelligent script tackling sensitively
an horrific story which – however harrowing – needs
to be told”.]

Not sure how I feel about this.
Perhaps a bit too early to be doing this.

Niamh. 27-09-2021 10:25 AM

That will be a difficult watch. I really Steve Coogan though

bots 27-09-2021 10:27 AM

im not a Coogan fan, so if it leaves me wanting to punch him, that's just fine

No it needs to be told.

He went on Ch4's Celebrity Big Brother, as a day guest
they had trouble getting him to leave

Steve Coogan to play Jimmy Savile in BBC drama

I have zero interest in anything to do with that repulsively disgusting creature .

( SaVILE not Coogan )

I don't think this needs a BBC drama in all honesty. A docu-drama is one thing (documentary with dramatised parts) but this doesn't feel necessary at all. Slightly gross, if anything.

Well they can not show him Raping that little girl
Of course
(At the time, a BBC worker interrupted him and was told to get out the room)

But they can show him behind the scenes
how devious he really was

Mystic Mock 27-09-2021 01:37 PM

It's not my kinda thing tbh.

I'm sure that Steve Coogan will do a good performance though.

Why do we have to know about his deviant ways though ..

It’s bad enough that he did what he did and got away with it tbh

The negatives are that showing his strategies will only give other like minded perverts ideas , surely .

What are the positives ?

Maybe they will focus in the many times he could have been stopped

joeysteele 27-09-2021 07:12 PM

I'd like to know how his victims feel about this.
Presumably and hopefully they'll have been properly consulted on this.

Beso 27-09-2021 07:13 PM

Disgraceful, but like Meghan and harry shows, I will be watching.

Oh he was Cherie ~ I was shocked by how utterly believeable he was and i think he has guts to take this role on ~ i feel an award coming.

Yeah I don't agree with them making this. It's unnecessary and might cause a lot of upset for the families affected.

Plus I actually worry for coogan. You know how you get the mad heads who think that soaps are really and are horrible to actors that play a villain in a soap. He might be given a hard time afterwards

I don’t think I’d be happy going up onstage to collect an award for being JS to be honest

Some of his victims were children?

His first victim was 14?
