When a road says closed

When a road say’s closed do you still go down it hoping it will be open?

My road is closed due to gas works from the next property along and people have been turning around all thru the night and this morning

Could be dangerous. You might find yourself down a big hole. :D :p

My road was closed last weekend. But you could still walk on it as a pedestrian.

Our main road was closed a few weeks back but they put the signs so far away from the actual closure it was misleading our turning was accessible :hmph:

A girl I used to work with came to work on a motorbike... at one point they closed a road on her route for nearly 3 full weeks. Every day she just went between the cones and used the road as normal (if I learned anything from her, it's that road rules are more "road suggestions" for bikers). Anyway, she never saw a workman, work vehicle, or any signs of work being done on the road... after 3 weeks, the cones and signs disappeared. Nothing actually done at any time. :suspect:

IIRC they're not allowed to "officially" redirect traffic through residential areas. Good reasons for that, I guess. But there's a road near here that is closed semi-frequently (for some reason) and the official redirect is literally about 7 miles ... when if you know the area, there's actually a 2-minute route through a housing estate that comes out on the other side of the closed stretch :hehe:.

But yes anyway I think there are rules about what directions they can give on the signs... so sometimes best to just have a look if possible.

obviously if there is a barrier up, i won't go down the road, but otherwise i just proceed with caution
