Can you eat a vindaloo?

Or are they way too hot for you?

Niamh. 15-10-2021 08:02 PM

Way too hot, I like a bit of a kick but medium hot is the hottest I'd go with Indian dishes

Never tried but i do like quite a hot curry, most people can't stand my chilli cos i make it too hot for them. We love it.

I could do and did a lot before I completely changed my diet a couple of years ago (to lose 11 stone) but now I think the shock to the system would probably do some damage! :joker:

I'm more of a Rogan Josh kinda guy.

But I do like my Madras & Vindaloo types as well.

I’ve just finished a whole vindaloo with every single trimming at ’spoons for the first time. I usually eat everything other than the popadoms when I opt for the vindaloo option but this particular one was extra-hot (more than usual) so I needed something crisp to bite into straight after. I didn’t realise popadoms were actually nice like that.

Had one yesterday to see if it would help combat my cold and I still couldn't taste a thing, easiest vindaloo I've sat through :omgno:

Never tryed but I’m sure it would be too hot for me I need plenty of rice to help me eat chilli con carni.

Yes love spicy food every day

not all vindaloos are equal in my experience. I tried it once and it was fine, however in another restaurant i didn't get passed the 2nd mouthful

The one I had a couple of hours ago was absolute fire but I was here for it still.

I can eat a bit but I always save a curry to warm up the next day, next day warmed up curry seems to taste better and doesn't seem as hot. I don't often have vindaloo I prefer a Madras.

Can't vote in the poll because my option isn't there :fist:. I like spice, I can eat a vindaloo and the spice level isn't too much, but I wouldn't choose vindaloo because I don't actually like the flavour. So I'd opt for a Madras or Jalfrezi because I find the flavours more palatable, even though they're not quite as spicy. Although with take aways it depends on the place - one place's Madras can be as spicy as another's Vindaloo. I've even encountered a couple of unusually spicy Bhunas.

Option 3 would’ve encapsulated that perfectly.

The freshness of the spices has a lot to do with the heat I think. If you go to a quality restaurant you can absolutely taste the difference. So the same recipe can have vastly different spice profiles based on freshness

Dhansak is probably my favourite Indian dish

Livia 17-10-2021 12:18 PM

I could... but I wouldn't want to. Dhansak for me too... pilau rice, mushroom bargee, sag paneer and a peswari naan. Mmmmmmm

michael21 17-10-2021 12:42 PM

I like chicken curry

Liam- 17-10-2021 01:00 PM

Absolutely not, I’d probably die, I don’t do spice at all, I’ve only just recently started being able to handle jalapeños

Kazanne 17-10-2021 03:07 PM

No way,far too hot,not keen on hot spices.
