Do you lock your door if you're home during the day?

I don't

Glenn. 21-10-2021 04:08 PM

No. No one can open my front door

My back door on the other hand

Glenn. 21-10-2021 04:13 PM

Wow just realised how wrong that sounded. I do lock my back door just in case, even though my back gate is locked

Niamh. 21-10-2021 04:16 PM

:laugh2:

Alf 21-10-2021 04:25 PM

Yes!

Never used to in the old days, but you have to these days. The lack of community barely exists where I live now.

smudgie 21-10-2021 04:26 PM

Front door is normally locked.
Back door is open if hubby is home as he is in and out of the house all day.

bitontheslide 21-10-2021 04:37 PM

front door auto locks and the backdoor is locked unless i forget

Redway 21-10-2021 04:55 PM

I do but more out of habit than safety fears.

Redway 21-10-2021 04:57 PM

It’s just something I grew up being told to do and that habit’s stuck. Plus I’m quite an introvert so having the door locked makes me feel like I’m in my private zone that no-one can disturb (unless someone bloody knocks on the door).

Cherie 21-10-2021 05:00 PM

Front door yes as otherwise it would be walk in

Back door no

Toy Soldier 21-10-2021 06:14 PM

I lock it if I’m going to put on headphones (for gaming/music) and I’m alone in the house, because I wouldn’t hear it open. Other than that, no.

AnnieK 21-10-2021 06:16 PM

If I've been out and come back in I don't often lock the door behind me during the day. Back door is usually open as my boy is in and out all the bloody time

Vicky. 21-10-2021 06:41 PM

Not unless I am upstairs for a while, or in the bath. Otherwise people try to walk right in and will break the door or walk into it.

LaLaLand 21-10-2021 06:45 PM

Only if I’m alone and go to the loo/in the shower or something like that.

Otherwise I’m not bothered, just the back door anyway and there’s a rickety fence any intruders would need to get over to get in so I’d hear them before I saw them! Plus, two dogs, only one of which is an effective “guard dog”.

Guess which one’s the wimp - the tiny Jack Russell or the big five stone Bulldog? :joker:

MTVN 21-10-2021 07:34 PM

As soon as I get in I put the key in the door from the inside out of habit/so I know where it is and so I usually lock the door when I do that

Vanessa 21-10-2021 07:39 PM

Yes, because I live alone and it makes me feel safer.

Calderyon 21-10-2021 09:33 PM

Of course.

Literally don't feel scared, I live in a very quiet area, know most of my neighbours etc been here 20 years and never had an issue plus my dog goes mental if anyone is near the gate

Calderyon 22-10-2021 01:08 AM

OK.

GoldHeart 22-10-2021 01:49 AM

Yes it's common sense , locking the doors isn't just a night time thing.

joeysteele 22-10-2021 07:35 AM

Yes, having a Staffie I can't have doors open for anyone to walk in.
