That's ashame he was doing such a great job this season.:hehe:

Being serious though, I honestly think that he has done a good job for them overall as they were a mess before he tookover as Manager.

Obviously it went wrong for him this season, but I always think it's good to look at the bigger picture with a Manager than just the current form.

:joker: You certainly did, thank you.

They could now be in trouble this season actually.

it wasn't the manager that sold grealish, and that ultimately is the reason for their slide this season

I think that they're missing Grealish in terms of scoring goals and setting other players up for goals.

However considering 12 goals in your last 4 games is a defensive issue that's cropped up that weren't there last season, and is a separate issue to Grealish not being there imo.

not sure this is a good move

this could very well end Gerrard's rise as a football manager as they must be one of the favourites for relegation

MTVN 10-11-2021 05:00 PM

Bit of a sideways step for him really I think. Rodgers went from Celtic to a top 6 challenging club, Gerrard will be going from Rangers to a relegation battle

Steven Gerrard leaving Rangers to go to Villa?
Has he lost his mind in Scotland?.

Crimson Dynamo 10-11-2021 08:12 PM

Must be great being a Villa fan knowing you are nothing but a stepping stone english prem club

:skull:

I thought that too Joey but lots of people have been telling me how this is a 'bigger club' for him now

James 10-11-2021 09:20 PM

Was expecting him to leave if the Liverpool job came up (which is unlikely soon) or England. Surprised at Aston Villa.

The only bigger thing is the money they get from sky

Nothing else under any metrics

villa in Scotland are Kilmarnock

bots 10-11-2021 09:51 PM

Rangers are probably a mid table team in the premier league, but they are the elite in scotland, they are in europe every year, AV are just not going to be offering that in the next 10 years. If AV get relegated then Gerrard is either going to be a championship manager or he will join the ranks of the big Sam or Bruce, because he will never manage a top premier league team after relegation

He stood no chance of being the next Liverpool manager when we already know who it will be

I'm stunned actually.

Personally I'd guess he has a good chance of turning Villa's fortunes around.
Now he's going there as announced.

I still overall think it an odd move at this time and kick in the teeth possibly to Glasgow Rangers and their fans.

Pep Linjders, Klopp is literally teaching him everything he knows because he wants him to be the replacement

MTVN 11-11-2021 11:06 AM

Hmm assistants taking over doesn't actually happen that often though, depends what terms Klopp leaves under I guess, a lot can change in a couple of years

Denver 11-11-2021 02:13 PM

He took a step back from management to return to the club to learn under Klopp and Klopp believes he is capable and I do think Klopp would have earnt a say in who replaces him
