Freaky Emoticon Problem

For some bizarre reason, Whenever I'm about to post a reply or whatever, the :laugh3: smiley is replaced by topboy's avatar. It's there no matter where I happen to be on the forum.

Delete your internet cookies. It'll be in your tools section of your toolbar.

Sunny_01 02-07-2007 09:30 PM

well thats certainly an interesting addition to the emoticons!! I am sure James or Mark will be able to sort it out soon for you! thats assuming you want it sorted lol

CharlotteSometimes 02-07-2007 09:34 PM

Yeah, Sunny, I certainly do! (No offence, topboy). I've tried deleting cookies, clearing private data, etc. But it's still there.

Red Moon 02-07-2007 09:39 PM

What of web browser are you using and what operating system?

It might help someone workout what might be going on.

CharlotteSometimes 02-07-2007 09:43 PM

Hey, Red. :xyxwave:

Windows XP (+ SP2). Firefox 2.0.0.4.

Matt08 02-07-2007 09:45 PM

Try switching to another browser and see if you have the same problem.

cgimusic 02-07-2007 09:46 PM

Click tools, clear private data, make shure only cache is ticked and click ok and refresh.

soz if you already tried that.

CharlotteSometimes 02-07-2007 09:53 PM

Yeah, I've tried clearing the cache, and even ran CCleaner. It's still there.

I can't, because IE doesn't hold cookies for me (hasn't for years) and neither does Opera (presumably because they both use the same engine). So it would repeatedly log me out. I've got Torpark, but obviously that slows you down and the problem may still be there with that too, given that it's based on Firefox.

I don't know then. Hope you fix it.

Just to test. What do you see here: :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

A 3 laughing people or 3 topboy's?

CharlotteSometimes 02-07-2007 10:25 PM

LOL, three 'topboys'! I suppose it's not doing me any harm, but it worries me a little in case it picks up a nasty image at some point. Especially if that shows up somehow in my posts, without me intending it to.

Lauren 03-07-2007 01:57 AM

CharlotteSometimes... it wouldn't show up on our screens if you did post a "nasty" image accidentally anyway. We'd just see the emoticon thats meant to be there.

Have you tried re-installing firefox? It wouldn't take long and would most like clear up the "problem"

andybigbro 03-07-2007 02:31 AM

Itd actually Quite Freaky but cool lol

MarkWaldorf 03-07-2007 07:19 AM

......And it had to be that avatar.

James 03-07-2007 08:54 AM

What do you see if you click http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...ies/laugh3.gif ?

Try opening a new tab Ctrl-T close down the tab with the forum in it, clear the cache and restart the browser (or computer).

It might be a firewall is affecting it also.

CharlotteSometimes 03-07-2007 03:12 PM

Still 'topboy' when I click on the link, James. (Is it someone from Hollyoaks, or something?). I'll try the other now.

Matt 05-07-2007 01:14 AM

That is one freaky emoticon problem!
