Defending champion Gerwyn Price is the one to beat but I do think it's wide open this year and many players are in with a shot.

I've gone for James Wade who at 40/1 looks a good value price.

Former champion Rob Cross has found some better form of late, he could be in with a shot. Michael Smith also has the talent if he can keep his head he may also have a chance.

Johnny Clayton has had a great year so will fancy his chances. Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright will also be contenders as always.

Raymond van Barneveld is back out of retirement.

"Queen of the Palace" Fallon Sherrock meets veteran "The Adonis" Steve Beaton in the first round.

Not a huge fan but I'll most likely end up watching a bit because Gav likes it

Van Barneveld could be lucky to reach round 2 but then again he is up against Ilagan so i give him 75% chances there maybe

I have 12 players in a first round accumulator. Tonight I need Ricky Evans to win 3-0 and Adrian Lewis just to win.

It's a tough start to my accumulator because if Evans loses a set it's gone and Lewis has a tricky game and has been low of confidence for a couple of years now.

Ricky Evans does the job for me. 3-0 win. This next one is gonna be tough. Adrian Lewis may be one of the all time greats but he's low on confidence and has been for a while and he isn't playing a mug, it ain't gonna be easy.

Lewis wins.

Good lad Ade. He may be lacking confidence but he tried real hard there and got his rewards. Sets up a mouth-watering second round tie with his old rival "The flying Scotsman" Gary Anderson. They've twice met each other in the final, now they meet in the second round.

Happy to get through the first night on my accumulator, on to tomorrow.

No need for the booing for Gerwyn Price by the crowd. He's a great character and an even better player, show some respect.

The champ loses the first set 3 legs to nil. Needs to wake up, he's missing his doubles. Possible shock on the cards.

Rapid Ricky a great character, he'd be top class entertainment if he was regularly competing for trophies

If he gets his first dart in the treble 20 then he just turns into lightning speed and usually hits 180. If he doesn't get that first dart in then he struggles.

Edhouse is playing the game of his life. No better place to do it than in the World championships against the defending champion.

Good effort by Edhouse but Gerwyn has taken control now.

Price just turned on the gas and made it look easy in the end
