Probably a bad man but a God in the history of music. The influence he had on music in the 20th century and onwards is unrivaled. In the mid to late fifties he was the John Lennon, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Kirk Cobain, Jay-Z of his time.
A lyrical genius that also brought a new sound. |
This song is from 1944. Just to put that into perspective, that is still some years before people had television.
Ladies and gentlemen, Billie Holiday |

From "The Word" in 1991 before they were widely known. Singing their most iconic song and they would become the most iconic music act of the 1990s.

One of the members of the 27 club along with Robert Johnson, Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse. All died at age 27. Here's Janis with my favourite Janis song written by Kris Kristofferson.

I was introduced to this song by Lieutenant Gruber from the TV sitcom, Allo Allo, it's a beautiful song that can stand the test of time.

The pinnacle of stadium rock. You can't get a better feeling or atmosphere at a gig than The Quo singing "Rockin all over the World!" it's unbeatable.
Happy New Year to you all. |
You don't even notice the diversity in my Hootenanny guests, you don't need to, it's all organic.
Out of my seven acts, 4 are of a non European race but that of an African race. Also 2 of my artists are of the female variety. I didn't even think of diversity, it all happened naturally. The Black Community were the biggest influence on music in the 20th century and probably sport too. Never listen to the news that tells you that political organisations like BLM are the pride of those communities. The individuals that produce the goods are the pride, not the one who burns and loots your city. |
Nice one Alf.
