Minnie Mouse swaps dress for TUXEDO as it’s ‘more inclusive’

Iconic Minnie Mouse has swapped her polka dot dress for a more formal, dark blue tuxedo, the BBC reports. The dress was a staple for Minnie, who has worn it for over 100 years. So Disney, why now, in a pandemic, when your money could be better spent elsewhere?

Minerva’s ‘progressive’ transformation was designed by none other than Stella McCartney, 50, who was tasked with creating a more ‘inclusive’ figure to celebrate Women’s History Month and 30 years of Disneyland Paris

another day, another woke story from disney

Imagine being triggered by a cartoon mouse

Mystic Mock 28-01-2022 04:27 PM

A weird decision.

I mean it's not exactly character destroying, but it is a bizarre take from Disney.

Despite the change being just a temporary one, it has been met with a mixed reaction online from Disney fans.
Minnie will debut the blue tuxedo in Disney's Paris entertainment resort from March 2022, where she will wear it in time for Women's History Month.
It’s literally for one month

Oh it's less bizarre in that context.

Sorry, you can’t say ‘tr*ggered’. because it could “be re-traumatizing for folks who have suffered military, police, and other forms of violence.”

Jordan. 28-01-2022 04:49 PM

Love this very stylish and forward thinking

We’ll let you get on a cry over a cartoon glib. Take your time

Cherie 28-01-2022 05:11 PM

Stella must have spent ages on that design

Oliver_W 28-01-2022 05:19 PM

Taking away her feminity isn't the most inclusive thing tbh, even if it is just for a month.

Alf 28-01-2022 05:26 PM

That isn't Minnie, that's Mickey wearing blusher.

How is not wearing a dress taking away her femininity? Do you know any women that only wear dresses?

LeatherTrumpet 28-01-2022 06:00 PM

Has anyone actually ever watched a mickey mouse cartoon or minnie mouse

i am guessing noone

Liam- 28-01-2022 06:08 PM

Oh no, a cartoon character is temporarily going to wear a designer power suit rather than a dress, how will the world cope?

Niamh. 28-01-2022 06:12 PM

It's a lot nicer than her usual outfit actually [emoji173]

I didn't actually realise it was just a temporary thing, yeah not really a big deal here I agree .

simply by realising that and why corporations are exploiting kids to make money for their greedy selves

rather than thinking it to do with politics or anything remotely just

Minerva has been oppressed into Western ideals of how a mouse should dress, not empowering those who may identify as a mouse.

It’s for one of the two Disney parks in the resort, just like many anniversaries, seasons and shows where she has different couture to wear, she will be available to meet in her classic dress throughout the resort.

Other than that, she’s got an outfit designed by a fashion powerhouse, it looks fierce, I can’t wait to see the finished product.

When they're putting her in a suit rather than a dress to be more "inclusive", what else would they be trying to do?

What does making her look like she's about to lose a Presidential Election to a reality TV star achieve?

It was practically on loop on Disney Junior, alongside Doc McStuffins, Little Einsteins, and My Friends Tigger and Pooh.

Tigger and Pooh to be fair was actually quite amusing at times but they cancelled it :omgno:.

Also they showed trailers between the kids shows for the older kids Disney channel shows, and for two years straight one was a clip from "The Wizards of Waverly Place" where Selena Gomez says something like "looks like my revenge... revunged...". Every 15 minutes or so. For years. To this day I can't hear the word revenge without hearing "looks like my revenge revunged" in my head.

Genuine trauma this stuff.

mickey mouse never made it on to cartoon cavalcade which was my frame of reference
