Is this a joke

LaLaLand 03-03-2022 10:52 PM

Always wondered why they haven’t done this sooner honestly. Just seems like an obvious thing to do?

Be cool if the winner ended up apart of Eurovision in the same way Australia competes.

LaLaLand 03-03-2022 10:53 PM

Where’s all of the other states after N though?

Australia is a stretch to be honest. Add in America, Canada will want to join. Then Japan. Then it becomes Worldvision, not the singing competiton designed to unite Europe just like it was in 1957. Even the EEC, now the EU, was created to unite Europe. Do we allow the US into that?

It’s not that serious

UserSince2005 04-03-2022 06:02 AM

Country music always wins these shows. Wasn’t every winner of American idol from the south or something?

this show isn't similar to a American Idol or The Voice though

i don't think any of these artists want to be judged by some panel ala Idol or The Voice or X Factor

i am hyped up for this now by the looks of that gorgeous line up, brilliant mix of veterans and newbies

also The Crystal Method  (whew from theme song of a crime hit series Bones to competing for america's love for the title of best original song)

the ones who excite me the most are

Alisabeth von Presley - i like her celeb impersonations talent, her very dynamic, colourful style

Michael Bolton - curious for any new work from him, and ofc he is a LEGEND

Macy Gray - same as Michael, another LEGEND and she has such a unique sound

Allen Stone - i cannot help but just love his style a lot, there is something so hypnotic, addictive about his music and him as an artist

Jewel - well hope she can deliver another gem like Foolish Games but she is a hugely talented very iconic pop-country superstar queen, our Queen of Hearts get it (from masked singer)

Crystal Method - like what i earlier said, but the most famous electro act in the line up, such a huge name too for their genre  and a nice gig for them this show since pandemic cancelled a lot of their tour for last few years ofc

Riker is coming lads

first quarter final

Quote:

In each sub-competition, four of the competitors advance to one of the two semi-finals. Viewers vote for three entries from each program and a jury selects a fourth entry. At the end of each sub-competition, the entry that the jury has chosen to send to the semifinals is presented. The jury consists of 56 people - one representative from each competing state / territory. Viewer voting continues after the program ends and the results are reported at the beginning of the next program. The same approach applies to the semifinals.

In addition to the 20 entries that went on to the semifinals, the jury also selects two so-called "redemption songs" which, despite not being voted on by viewers or juries, are picked back into the competition again and allowed to participate in a semifinal each. The premise is that these are the two songs that have worked best outside the program. There are thus a total of 22 artists who advance to the two semifinals, eleven in each. Viewers also vote on five entries from each semi-final to the final. In the final, ten entries compete. The results are presented in Eurovision spirit with juries that, according to tradition, award 12 points and a combined account of the viewers' points.

But there are 300 million in the US

So the show was watched by less than 1% of the population

Nicky91 10-05-2022 01:48 PM

Oklahoma won

negotiations regarding a potential new season are under way

Quote:

Negotiations are currently underway between Voxovation and NBC regarding a second season of the American Song Contest.

Speaking to Aftonbladet, Christer Björkman from Voxovation who owns the rights to the American Song Contest has provided an update regarding season two of the competition. He told the Swedish newspaper that:

We are still negotiating and it is, as always, about money.

AleXa and her song “Wonderland” bested nine other acts from US states and territories to win the debut edition of the American Song Contest and claim the title of Best Original Song, which was broadcast by NBC earlier this year.

Entries from all 50 states, 5 U.S. territories, and the nation’s capital Washington, D.C., competed for the title of Best Original Song. The show was made up of five qualifying rounds, followed by two semi-finals, and ended with a grand final where the winner was crowned.

American Song Contest struggled in the ratings with a peak of 2.9 million viewers watching Show One on March 2, and viewer interest failed to reach this level for the remainder of the series. The Grand Final on May 9 was followed by 2.04 million viewers. Across the globe, the contest has been broadcast in the likes of Canada, Australia, Finland and Slovenia.
