There are reports that ITV will revive Pop Idol to air Autumn 2023, 20 years after it was axed

I’d rather it be Popstars and it be for a band but okay.

[The original saw (L-R) Neil Fox, Nicki Chapman,
Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell on the
judging panel but a line-up is yet to be confirmed (pictured 2003)]

[It is understood ITV approached
show bosses in America,
Holland and Sweden about bringing the
format back before Christmas,
with talks beginning this week
Original creator Simon Fuller
is said to be involved and it is claimed ITV
would like the programme to air for a
special run next autumn to mark
20 years since it was last on UK television]

Haven't watched the original Popstars, so I'm looking forward to this.

bots 18-03-2022 12:43 PM

pop idol didn't have all the mentoring bollocks and judges houses bs which is what put me off x factor

Nicky91 18-03-2022 01:05 PM

good one ITV :clap1:

DSDS still has been very good fun for me, so ITV better look at RTL's ways of handling this franchise

also include some Golden CD's for each judge pls, that is also a great addition to its concept

but beware look carefully into auditionees backgrounds, no criminal backgrounds pls, german RTL had to kick one contestant out this year for hiding a criminal background, a shame because he was quite a good singer and rapper, Mechito but strict policies are needed

I'm not sure why they think it'll perform any better than the later X Factor series?
