North London Park 'William Gladstone' could be be renamed Diane Abbott Park

[London park named after four-time
prime minister William Gladstone

by Labour Council as part of
their slavery review
Gladstone Park in northwest London

[Gladstone - the British prime minister
between 1868 and 1894 and widely
considered one of the country's most
influential leaders - never owned slaves
himself, but his family had links to the trade.
William Gladstone's father,
the merchant John Gladstone,
owned more than 2,500 slaves
and was compensated by the
British Government when it
abolished slavery in the
British Empire in 1833.
Even though William spoke out in
favour of the rights of plantation
owners early in his career,
he later said the abolition of slavery
was one of the great political issues
on which the 'masses had been right'.]

I'm team Gladstone. Team Abbott can suck eggs.

5 year olds were "briefed on the killing of George Floyd"

Who briefed them, Fred and Rose West? Sir Jimmy and Rolf? Epstein and Maxwell?

Alf 17-04-2022 08:28 PM

Hey! teachers! leave our kids alone.

Sadly True.

Labour Council.

Let's be fair now, Abbott does have her own legacy - every time a politician says or does something stupid, she trends on twitter in the vein of "imagine if Dianne Abbott had said that!!"

naming a park after the most stupid mp ever is quite an accolade

Beso 18-04-2022 08:06 AM

They should name ice cream vans, that sit in the parks after her.

I mean she isn't the greatest candidate for a park being named after, surely they could find a much better past, or present Labour MP for that honour?!

As ridiculous as it might sound (no more ridiculous than what's currently being rumoured) why not name it "Raheem Sterling Park". He grew up in North London, was in and out of trouble as a kid/teen, yet turned his life around and is a pretty good role model to the younger generation.

Literally so many better candidates than Diane Abbott.

Apart from the time she explained she was unwell during an interview I don't know what you mean.
This woman has served her constituency for years very well... not sure why that one incident can be used as a way to undermine an entire carreer.

The media hatchet job on the left of the labour party is still influencing some I see.

She also said Mao did more good than bad, lets not forget that!
