Pitch invasions…
They have to stop….my husband said one player tonight got headbutted and a possible broken nose after the play off game between Sheffield united and Nottingham Forest…this was just waiting to happen.
|
Lets hope something can be worked out, bringing back fences would be awful for the game.

That fan has just lost his chance to go to Wembley, he'll also probably get a lifetime ban and the Police will probably visit him for assault. Was it worth being a total brainless moron? |
The players are just so vulnerable….something has to be done before a tragedy happens.
|
Too right Rusti.
A tragedy could easily happen and that's not being dramatic. |
As much as it can be a joyful event, there will always be that small percentage who get carried away or go too far, and it must be a scary experience for some players

Love a good pitch invasion, normally a purely celebratory affair and the players love sharing the moment with the fans. Obviously opposition players should be left well alone though, thankfully there's always plenty of cameras on the pitch so anyone who does something stupid will be found out for it
Fans spend hundreds or thousands of pounds supporting their teams and most will only enjoy a taste of success a handful of times in their lives, let them have their moment |
Just seen the incident you're talking about though and that is shocking, the guy has been charged with assault and will probably be banned for life now

An electrical engineer who headbutted Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp after storming onto the pitch has been jailed for 24 weeks - as he faces a life-long ban from his football club.
Robert Biggs, 30, of Derbyshire, was also handed a 10-year football banning order after pleading guilty to assault at Nottingham Magistrate's Court this morning. The Nottingham Forest season ticket holder was one of hundreds of fans to invade the pitch following his team's victory over Sheffield United on Tuesday night, which was won in a penalty shoot-out. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...eadbutted.html |
