[Tributes have been paid to a father
who died after rescuing children
caught in a riptide at a beach in Wales.
Hywel Morgan, 47, helped rescue a group
of children who got into difficulty
in the water at Poppit Sands,
St Dogmaels, in Pembrokeshire.

Dyfed-Powys Police said an air
ambulance was called to the
scene at around 8.40pm on Friday.

A force spokesperson said:
"Tragically, despite the best efforts
of the emergency services,
local man Hywel Morgan
died after being recovered from the sea."
Two children were taken to hospital
for checks after the incident.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Morgan
who was described as a "devoted and loving father".]
