The Warning System

I know that 1 warning = 24hr ban, 2 warnings = 48hr ban and 3 warnings = 7day ban.

However, my question is this: What happens after that?

I currently have 3 warnings on my profile and whilst I wasn't planning on misbehaving  I was just curious as to what would happen if I were to receive another telling off.

Can anyone answer that?

Wiglet 04-07-2007 05:51 PM

I guess its :xyxwave::xyxwave:

What do the rules state?

lily. 04-07-2007 05:53 PM

The warning system has changed since the rules were written up I think. Hopefully an admin member or moderator can shed some light on this issue.

You get banned for life?

nodisharmony 04-07-2007 05:54 PM

It's about popularity and influence.

Who it is, etc...

But most of all, who you know...

I remember that Jake being permanently banned ages ago.

lily. 04-07-2007 06:21 PM

SMC was as well. That was before the warning system though. I'm unsure how it works now.

Edit to add: Was Jake that australian boy?

James 04-07-2007 06:44 PM

The way the system works is 1 warning is a 24 hour posting ban, 2 warnings is a 48 hour ban, 3 warnings is a week ban and every further warning is a week ban. Obviously people can't keep getting warned over and over though without getting permanently banned.

Yeah he was, think his was a different case to just getting warned for a 4th time though.

I'm sure that since the inception of the current warning system there have been people who were banned for good after a 4th warning.

When is the cut-off point then?

Are you insinuating that the mods are biased?

Matt 04-07-2007 11:48 PM

Is it just me or has the warning system changed?

lily. 05-07-2007 11:23 AM

I think it's always changing Matt. The basics remain the same though.. misbehave and you're out!

Always.. Lmao.. Don't you think I have enough wee yellow boxes on my profile..

Sophii3x 05-07-2007 11:48 AM

I was thinking that too Linda, I have 3 warnings too so I guess I'm a gonner if I break one more rule!

lily. 05-07-2007 11:54 AM

It must be down to the Admin's discretion after 3 warnings Soph. Amy21 is onto her 4th warning and she's not permanently banned.

We should make a pact Soph, if we get permanently banned, we can start out own site with all the other perma-banned members of TiBB ... Call it TiBB-Outcasts.com or something.. LoL

(Note: That was a joke... I'm not advertising other sites.)

Are you insinuating that the mods are biased?

Hi Dan_:thumbs:

Right, let me explain properly with three hyperthetical situations as example.

1) Imagine if a new member arrives on the forum and starts off advertising and spamming these boards immediately, then I would imagine that the new member will get an immediate permanent ban, as their dishonest intentions are obvious, they are a "spammer"

2) Imagine if a new member arrives on the forum and personally attacks existing members and causes a nuisence and gets a 24 hr ban, then 48 hr ban, then 7 day ban within no time at all, and then continues that way, but during all the time of that members time spent on here, as hardly contributed anything or made virtually no friends, then past that, the Admins & mods would consider the permanent ban.

3) (Just using yourself as an example:thumbs:) Imagine if yourself (Dan_) after much time of being on this forum, you suddenly found yourself getting upset by a member or members and after feeling provoked, you personally attacked a member or members or broke the forum rules in some way, then you would get a 24hr ban. If the problems you had with the member or members continued and you had no choice but to persist, then you would get a 48hr ban. Then beyond that, a 7day ban. After having all those bans, everything seemed to improve and there was no rule breaking and life was great here. But, suddenly another problem arrived and overlapped to something much bigger until there was a reaction from yourself and that reaction then makes the Admins & Mods look at yourself and have to make a judgement call. Naturally, they will look at the past positives as well as the negatives. Plus your friends on the forum and MSN too. Word gets around , so, in the end, that will make the Admin's & mods decide on your future.

The same thing will apply with a member or members who haven't had any warnings/bans of any kind.

I would imagine that would be the same situation.

Naturally, every moderator will have their own opinion and one may dislike a particular member, while three like that particular member. That means that it get's complicated.

I can't imagine it is easy and the new idea of having the (7 day ban), being used more than once, is a compromise for the members who fit into the 3rd example I gave above.

But this is only my observation, of course:wink:
