Breast feeding

I was watching 24 hours in a and e last night

A two year old boy was in a and e after bumping his head, was due to be examined but his mum said he wanted some milk so started to breast feed him.

My personal opinion is that to me it seems too long to be feeding a child with breast milk

What’s you’re opinion?

My opinion is its not really any of my business how long a mother chooses to breast feed her child, 2 is still very young [emoji2272]

usually its a mix of baby food and breast milk till about 2 and stop is the average i think

rusticgal 19-06-2022 03:50 PM

I personally think its looks a little odd...however it is the most natural thing to do...its good for the baby/child and it doesnt cost a penny. Each to their own.

I don’t care, at 2 it’s probably more of a comfort thing than nutrition as the child will have been weaned onto solids

I think for me seeing the size of the child still being breast fed was a bit of a shock.

Both of mine were breastfed (not by me) until around 14 months I think, but there was no specific plan to stop, they just sort of… did. My eldest actually quite abruptly, one day she was just like “nah” and that was that.

Considering a child at that age will be on solids, I don't see the reason for continuing to breast feed. ......having said that, it's at the discretion of the mother.

I would have breast milk on my cornflakes if it wasn’t so expensive

Nutritious and delicious

Lots of toddlers would still have a bottle at age 2, its no different if they have been exclusively breast fed. You don't get an instruction manual, so you will do whatever feels right. My kid was a hungry baby, I had to supplement with bottles and started weaning at 3 months....the advice at the time was no solids till 6 months but once I started he slept better and was far more content. One of my friends still nursed at bedtime till her daughter was 3....you do what you feel is best

I watched a documentary about ten years ago, about a 23-year-old guy who was still breast fed and it showed him with his mum on her boobs.

Apparently, as long as the sucking motion continues the mother still gives milk.

23 years old did you say?

At that point there's something really off there.:joker:

I suppose it's their choice.

I'm not sure if he was autistic. But the mother did look very peculiar. Looked like an ageing hippy. No mention of the father.

But the 'kid' went into a fetal position on his mother's boobs. Bizarre.

Was it craig Coates?

I honestly don't even know what to say to that.:joker:

For once I'm truly speechless.

I've tried to find the video but couldn't. Even though I saw it ten years ago, I think it was a1990s documentary.

I thought that the 1990's was supposed to be the decade of cheesy Shows? Not incestuous Shows.

This programme was shown on Denmark TV. With Danish subtitles but the mum and son were English. It wasn't incest. The mother was doing it because she thought there were health benefits to her son. There was also a girl aged 9 or thereabouts still breastfeeding. Not incest. Just bizarre.

So she says.

Being serious I agree with you that the case is really bizarre, incest or no incest.

This programme was part of a series of documentaries about strange human behaviour. One also featured a middle aged man who wanted his healthy leg amputated because he felt it wasn't part of him. He said if no surgeon would operate he'd take a chainsaw to his leg himself. He was deemed sane. He certainly didn't appear crazy but suffered from body dysmorphia

Jesus Christ! This programme sounds messed up.
