Johnny Depp is set 'to return' to Pirates of the Caribbean
[Johnny Depp is set 'to return'
to Pirates of the Caribbean and is in talks with Disney about '$300 million deal' after defamation trial win against Amber Heard The actor, 59, was the major lead in five Pirates movies over the past 15 years He was dropped by the Disney franchise in 2018 after the release of Dead Men Tell No Tales A source told Poptopic that the media house is working on a '$301 million deal' to coax Depp back Depp sued Heard over the Washington Post op-ed in 2018 that didn't identify him, but clearly branded him as a domestic abuser The Edward Scissorhands star told the jury he would not work with Disney again after executives made him feel 'guilty until proven innocent' ] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbi...lion-deal.html He is good at that roll so I hope it gets going. |
Yes,I dont think anyone else would be able to take on that role more sucessfully really .

Omg omg omg is this true? I'm so excited! I love captain jack!
|
Quite right too!
Let him slay |
Good, I hope he gets his alpacas too, he deserves it
|
Gross. Hope it flops. I won't pretend that the first couple of Pirates films weren't good or that he wasn't good in them, but it's worth remembering that the last couple of films were unwatchable trash and there's no reason to assume that any future ones will be any better with a fat drunk old Depp at the helm.
Also it's Disney so will inevitably aim for high levels of diversity, and thus be slammed by the lowkey white power MRA Depp stans who have made up his recent following. |
A quick google suggests that these are completely unsubstantiated rumours . Depp also swore in court that he would never work with Disney again.
Perjury is a very real thing you know. |

Fat and drunk :joker: If he takes the deal I very much doubt it would flop. I won't watch it as not my sort of film, but for a lot of people it is. He's also in a very powerful position to negotiate a huge fee. Fair play to him. Knew you'd get the MRA in there somehow  |
Time for a 6 pint Stella celebration
 |

He should tell them to go and **** themselves.

I thought he said he'd never work for Disney again?

Unless the "diverse" casting is like Rountree off NCIS:LA then people would just be being silly imo, because the Films aren't meant to be that deep.:joker: |

I think he should consider it. All of his fans want to see captain jack again.
And he won the case, so I don't see why not. |

Also again, whilst I will condeed that the original Pirates! trilogy were indeed good fun (in fact, I'd argue that the first film is a classic and it's a shame Depp has ruined it for many with his behaviour) ... it should have ended there at the 3rd film which closed out the main arc. The 4th and 5th films are garbage and a 6th one will also be garbage. This is totally separate to my opinion of Depp. I still quite liked him as an actor and especially as Jack Sparrow when the 4th film came out... but it was boring cash-cow dirge bordering on unwatchable. They literally banked on people liking the character enough for it to make money, and put zero effort into the plot or script. |

Just to prove it's not just me being biased against Depp, here's the Rotten Tomatoes scores;
https://i.imgur.com/UYgIuV4.jpg 1st movie a great film 2nd not so great but watchable 3rd questionable 4th trash 5th even worse trash |
I've only ever watched the first one and I turned it off after about a hour. I wasn't feeling it.
