What are your opinions on this little discussion about trans.

I enjoyed it, in my opinion this is how such discussions should go. I've learnt more in that little clip than I have in my 12 years on TIBB

It's not for me Parmy. Ignorance and tribalism on display all round.

Very interesting conversation.

Wow, to be denied the ability to get help with gender dysphoria and have to cut your own testicles off.... Assuming she was imprisoned for being trans, just disgusting

I very much doubt she was imprisoned FOR being trans, given that it's never been illegal in the UK. I would also suggest that it's not really possible that someone who would remove their own testicles in a prison cell wasn't mentally unwell at the time.

There's no real excuse for the harassment and goading though, and I think even the chaps making this video started to realise that about half way through and softened their approach.

Both of them gave each other the time to explain. There was no shouting or name calling, just angood honest interaction.

I dont see either of them having an agenda, and as a viewer, like I said I learnt a fair bit during the conversation.

Ps, it's just one bloke making a video, not "the blokes" making the video.

I certainly didnt see any harassment or goading, and the trans activist was there to highlight the issues so would have been expecting interactions to happen.

I think we might have very different opinions on what amounts to a high quality good faith discussion Parmy :joker:. It was an OK interaction in that everyone kept their cool, but neither party had anything particularly unique or insightful to say... just the usual/stock stuff with not much behind it.

"A man cutting off his penis doesn't make him a woman!"
"TERFS - apparently they would deny trans women the right to exist!" (the "apparently" there is telling; not an original thought, it's just the standard line, alongside "it's literal murder" etc)

Anyway essentially it's the absolute basics of the debate - I don't get the impression that either of them have given any of it much thought beyond the surface. Which is really saying something as apparently one of them performed drastic surgery on themself with a sharpened toothbrush.

I still don’t get why trans men compete in women’s sports whilst trans women compete in women’s sports ..
