He was gonna get 20 years, the same as Maxwell but the judge gave him an extra 10 for his crimes against music.

In all seriousness, I liked Ignition and I Believe I Can Fly, but obviously it doesn't change the fact that he clearly is a danger to the community just like that Maxwell lady.

Watched a documentary about him before he was even arrested/charged - it was absolutely bizarre. He was like a cross between a pimp and a cult leader and had girls thoroughly brainwashed, the documentary featured some of their parents who had been desperately trying to convince them to leave, and also a few of the girls who had eventually left and been “deprogrammed” talking about what life was like living there.

deserved sentence yes, but i still listen to some of his songs I Believe I Can Fly and The World's Greatest especially, such tunes

They haven't "gone downhill" he's been doing these things since the beginning e.g. having sex with 14-year-old Aaliyah when he was 26. Sex predator his entire adult life.

I liked a lot of his 90's/early 00's stuff. I really liked his album with Jay Z (The Best of Both Worlds). However he's always been a wrongen, wasn't he is a relationship with Aaliyah when she was 13/14 or something?!

Anyway, glad he got such a big sentence.

Some people are saying racism because he got 30 years and Maxwell only got 20.

None to both. Sentences are individual to every case. We're often left baffled at how somebody gets xx years, whilst another with a similar crime gets less. It's always been this way.

I think the biggest difference from what I can tell is that Maxwell was more of an accomplice in her case, where as R Kelly was the instigator of his.

I could be wrong, but I think that might be why there is a 10 year difference in their sentencing.

He deserved double , disgusting filthy pig. I watched the progs about him and i'm glad the enablers are going on trial too.

What's weird is ,him marrying Aliyah when she was 15 was ignored . I know she sadly passed away in her 20s . But if she was still around ..it makes you wonder what she would say about all this. Because it sounds like he was doing alot of abuse & grooming.

I bet if he married someone like Britney or Christina Aguilera when they were underage,then he would have been in trouble.
