A new Disney+ animated kids series Baymax!, features what is believed to
be the company's first transgender character, buying tampons at a
supermarket.

The Big Hero 6 spinoff, which is a series of shorts, features robot nurse
Baymax caring for residents in the futuristic, fictional town of San Fransokyo.

In the controversial episode, Baymax is browsing the menstrual product aisle
at a supermarket on behalf of a 12-year-old girl, when he asks his fellow
shoppers for help.

One of those customers is a trans man, wearing a transgender flag shirt, who hands him a box of pads and tells the robot: 'I always get the ones with wings.'

A health robot received a load of different advice from a bunch of people from a multitude of backgrounds so that said health robot could best help a child be comfortable with her changing body, people really need to stop calling everybody else snowflakes if this is what they’re going to constantly whinge about, it’s actually embarrassing

Although good thread title, you could be a dailyheil writer, completely misrepresents everything that happened with a personal touch of your own bigotry, top notch stuff, I’m almost impressed

Sick to death of people being offended by non fecking entities.

There's no story, no outrage to discuss. It is what it is.... Someone asking for advice, several gave advice.

Pisses me off

Parents took to Twitter to criticize the notion, saying it was 'stealing childhood from children' and teaching that 'men can have periods to children'

What thick parents they must have. They're not teaching that at all.

imagine attacking the op for posting a story from a daily newspaper

Forget the Transgender character, I honestly don't give a **** if they have one or not, as long as the decision that they make works for the series then good for them.

However why does a kids Show want to talk about periods? I always thought kids Shows were meant to be adventurous, funny, and fantastical, a period episode doesn't fit into any of those categories.

And before anyone says Educational, again do you see Doc McStuffin doing an episode on Periods?

It is educational and common sense really why they would.

Just like they include maths, brushing your teeth, life skills.... Some are funny, some are funny and educational, some are adventure which include elements of education.

I don't get what there isn't to understand :conf:

What child would want to watch an episode about Periods? In fact what adult would want to watch an episode about Periods?

I feel like sometimes writers are forgetting that they're in an entertainment medium when they write certain episodes.

Trans women can’t have periods because they have no womb, so to put a trans woman in an episode saying she uses sanitary towels is not educational, it’s taking the p1ss

The world is seriously fcuked up at this stage

The character is a trans man as stated in the article.

I stand corrected
So the trans man must still have a womb and not taking meds to stop periods
And is pre op.

All this going on in an episode for kids.

LeatherTrumpet 02-07-2022 10:49 PM

Tragic

jet 02-07-2022 10:58 PM

How will kids know this is a transman? Will they think that men have periods?
That wouldn't be educational in the slightest to kids, it would be confusing. Madness.

Glenn. 02-07-2022 11:27 PM

Well hopefully they have intelligent parents to answer any questions they may or may not ask

The same intelligent parents that are criticising the episode.

Parents decide what their kids should watch not people with no kids

The sense of entitlement from some on here thinking they know what’s best.

Disney, the same company who airbrush out gay characters for China, alter their posters so black people are barely visible.

I also don't agree with this new show. Can we just allow kids to be kids for a bit maybe?

Which country hates black people so much that they can't even look at them in a poster?

Trust me I believe you that it exists because it's 2022, but whatever country that Disney has to make this edit for needs to get a grip, even if it's a country that I normally like.

If they were intelligent they wouldn’t be criticising it.
