You don't need Bisto to make gravy, use flour or cornflower with meat juices

Beso 07-07-2022 09:23 AM

Its full of salt and nasties, make your own from scratch and keep it in the fridge, it will keep for up to 10 days then reheat as required, if you have no meat juices use the water from boiing veg and a stock cube to brown it :smug:

Do not use the water from boiled cabbage though, you will fall asleep within 15 minutes.

I always get the bisto best gravy, too many instant ones are awful and watery but that one is lovely

I like the individual packets of gravy mix over the tubs of granules, I usually replace some of the water with meat juices when I'm making it too

Hello.

I'm Thomas. I don't know if you've met me before but I run the place around here.

Welcome.

You will have to try and find cheaper granules I'm afraid if it is causing you issues.

Lots of alternatives out there. You can just buy the cheapest and spruce it up with oxo cubes etc.

Good luck

A pack of 8 budget price fish fingers. Were £1.00 in January, 2022.

Were £1.50 last week. Now, £1.65 today. :fist::fist:

Nice.

I've cut the amount I spend on food in the last month by being more careful about how I spend. Buying more value brands and keeping an eye more on what things cost.

I was just compiling a spreadsheet to compare the costs month to month.

Same here. I used to love Linda McCartney's meat-free sausages. I regularly used to have about three on a plate, mash and peas. But they became so expensive, I don't eat them now.:(

I also loved Frosties cereal. Cut that out too. Too expensive.

Luckily I don't smoke or drink booze.
