Oh yeah, I've heard of the nation this film about. They were a cornerstone in the slave trade, selling other Africans into slavery for weapons. They were so dependent upon it that their economy collapsed when the West abolished slavery, and they tried to keep it going by warring against refugees fleeing other slavers.

Though I'm sure they'll find a way to make the abolishing of slavery look like a bad thing :joker:

In all seriousness I honestly wish people on both sides just want to watch good stories rather than being politically charged all of the god damn time.

It's why Hollywood is currently struggling for quality output imo, because they are also taking part in this political feud instead of creating masterpieces, or at least trying to create a masterpiece.

But to the far right, there is also nothing wrong with seeing a black face on screen, Jesus Christ!

Rant over, obviously this post is not gonna be seen by most of these people, but I really needed to get it off my chest as I'm sick to death of people dragging extreme Politics from both sides into what's meant to be entertainment.

I wonder when those idiots will realise they're just playing into the Hollywood megacorps' hands, and giving them ammo to pretend they're victims, the poor little illionaires.
Better off just ignoring the trash that comes off the conveyor belts, than giving it the light of day and making themselves look stupid.

To be fair, lessening the Dahomeys active role in the slave trade would be a political choice. (I don't know if the movie did do that, but it's a Hollywood product, so I doubt accuracy was a high priority)

Oh I agree that Youtubers aren't helping the situation that's going on at the moment with the rise of extreme Politics in Hollywood.

And I haven't seen the Film, so I'm afraid I can't answer if they were accurate or not.
