I probably used to say Sinead but I'm bang into the Prince version these days.

i always believe it is the original writer that does the best version, because they wrote the words and know exactly what it means to them

I’d say that’s normally true but there are a few exceptions over the years ..

I actually like many of the newish covers who tend to do a slow/ slower version of an old song

Sineads version is better imo

The originals are usually better but a couple that I like more than the originals that sprung to mind straight away :
