Turkey is now Türkiye: Bloody name change

[Say goodbye to Turkey and hello to Türkiye.

The government of President
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has asked
the international community to recognise
Turkey by its Turkish name Türkiye,

dropping the long-standing anglicised
version that was often confused with the
famous Thanksgiving animal.

"The word Türkiye represents and expresses
the culture, civilisation, and values
of the Turkish nation in the best way," Erdoğan said.]

You can tell Erdoğan, "no" from me. I speak English. Or at least I try to. And he can't make me, so tough titty.

Sorry for not using your thread.

I was watching TRTworldHD Live news
thought it was a petty reason to change the name

Typical Arista

wants all the threads
in his name.

It's pronounced basically the same. You could NOT say it their way and no-one would notice.

I sometimes wonder what if every country was called by its native name tbh
