John Legend will perform in the launch show :)

and last years winners Rose & Giovanni will again perform one of their iconic performances

Vanessa 07-09-2022 03:40 PM

Ooooh I'm so excited for this!

Nicky91 09-09-2022 07:33 AM

17th

well umm i myself would not postpone, but i would last minute edit the launch show prerecorded broadcast, near the end a lovely video message from all judges, hosts, dancers saying something nice in tribute of the queen

and i'd invite Charles, Camilla definitely for November 19th for the Blackpool week, and a nice tribute to the queen opening group number maybe, especially over there in blackpool tower is most fitting, because of huge ballroom floor and they are good at creating magic moments there

also something what could be nice, is if they ask what some of the queen's favourite music was, and maybe a special week in honour of the queen, the couples dancing to those songs

this 20th series was going to be an emotional one nevertheless, with already the big tribute to 100 years of british television theme tunes, but they can do something extra beautiful for their biggest fans of the show as well i think

Vanessa 09-09-2022 08:52 AM

I think it will be postponed. But I don't mind, we can wait.

some are saying it could be postponed until Friday 23rd and week 1 as normal on saturday 24th

because launch show is a prerecorded thing so you can of course do it like that, and have rehearsals for week 1 as normal up to the 24th

and by then i also agree with those people, that most might be wanting some strictly sparkle even more than ever in their lives again, but then when its live Tess, Claudia will have to say something in beginning of the broadcast like ''last night you saw our couples paired up, instead of last week''

week 1 show is after the official mourning period so that date does not need to change

funeral could be either on sunday 18th or monday 19th i think, idk would they do funerals on sundays?

launch show still scheduled for next saturday, now its there in upcoming broadcasts

1 hour 47 minutes length

Nicky91 12-09-2022 01:53 PM

BBC are soon to come with an official statement regarding launch show upcoming saturday, and this can be wether it goes ahead, but talked about it being prerecorded and it being toned down without the sparkly countdown anymore now last few days, also a good thing from them

they can do the launch show this saturday i don't see why not, with a video message tribute to the queen near the end, and on 24th week 1 show opening pro number, last minute improv homage to the queen dance, very respectful celebration number to her 70 years of service as longest reigning monarch would be nice

It’s always been a wonder how much the Queen knew about pop culture, but it’s now emerged that she was indeed an avid watcher of Strictly Come Dancing.

Celebrities and public figures have been sharing heartwarming anecdotes about Queen Elizabeth II following her death aged 96 last Thursday.

The news was announced by Buckingham Palace who said the monarch died ‘peacefully’ at her Balmoral home in Scotland.

Huw Edwards has been leading the BBC’s coverage of the Queen’s death and the events leading up to her funeral on September 19.

On Monday, as Her Majesty’s coffin passed through Edinburgh in a procession including King Charles III, broadcaster Edwards was joined by Strictly contestant JJ Chalmers.

Chalmers, 35, competed in the 2020 series of the BBC dancing competition alongside professional dance partner Amy Dowden, but was eliminated in the quarter finals.

The former Royal Marine also has a pretty strong link to the Royal Family, as his father, John Chalmers, was once the Queen’s Chaplin.

Reminding viewers of Chalmers’ proximity to the Royals, Edwards said: ‘Lots of viewers will be fascinated to learn, they’ve seen you broadcasting, but they may not be aware you have a family link.’

Chalmers confirmed: ‘Yes and it’s a remarkable thing to have a relationship with the Royal Family of my own, and then a relationship my father had for a very long time with The Queen. And some of the occasions I’ve met her were with my father, for example in the grounds of Holyrood there.’

The TV presenter was referring to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, where the Queen’s coffin was brought to rest after leaving Balmoral Castle on Sunday.

Delivering the bombshell revelation about Her Majesty’s TV viewing habits, Chalmers added: ‘And actually, I’ve never said this one, but one of the most lovely things I’ve ever seen was, following the death of her husband my father had obviously written to her and she returned a letter which was typed and had all the expected notes within it, but at the bottom was a handwritten message that said: “I’ve just realised that the JJ Chalmers that I’ve been watching on the coverage of my husband’s funeral is the same JJ Chalmers that you told me of being injured all those years ago”.

‘And also a line that said: “And the same JJ Chalmers that I enjoyed watching on Strictly Come Dancing”. That’s the great thing.

‘So yes she has two things actually, she has an incredible memory but she also watches Strictly Come Dancing.’

Strictly fans are currently wondering whether the new series will launch as planned this Saturday, due to the BBC and ITV pulling some of their staple shows out of respect for the Queen and to leave room for coverage of her death.

This year’s series, its 20th, is expected to begin on Saturday, with 15 celebrities set to take to the ballroom floor to show us their moves.

The line-up was announced in recent weeks and includes presenter Helen Skelton, former EastEnders actor James Bye, The X Factor star Fleur East and former England football captain Tony Adams.

Britain’s Got Talent finalist Molly Rainford, singer Matt Goss and Ted Lasso actress and comedian Ellie Taylor are all also on the bill.

The Queen is currently lying in state in Edinburgh before her coffin is flown to London on Wednesday, accompanied by daughter Princess Anne, ahead of her funeral on Monday.
well BBC you know what to do, let the launch show go through on the 17th, its what Lizzie would've wanted

arista 13-09-2022 04:48 PM

The first show will be on Friday 23 September,
followed by the first live show on
Saturday 24 September.

Thats what the Guardian say.

Nicky91 14-09-2022 07:32 AM

yes 23rd September 7PM

Nicky91 14-09-2022 12:23 PM

also a nice gesture to air the film Paddington instead on saturday, and Paddington 2 on monday

btw maybe they should invite few royals for November 19th Blackpool show, as special VIP guests in that glamorous classy tower ballroom, and maybe as a last minute opening celebs, pro dance, a nice tribute to the queen (she deserves that big time, the superfan of this show she has been too), Lizzie for sure had good taste in faves, JJ was also among my faves

Nicky91 15-09-2022 07:08 AM

added the official cast photo to the OP now

Nicky91 15-09-2022 07:25 AM

even Kaye looking at her most elegant possible, she got some serious ballroom queen potential going by this look

Tyler is a latin boy i think, those cha cha's salsa's, samba's will suit him to perfection

Tony is our ''wildcard'' no one knows what to possibly expect, but he got a great personality anyway

Molly oozes ''pixie lott'' vibes to me, could be a QF shock boot same as pixie idk

Ellie T adopting the Catherine Tyldesley similar pose :fan:

Matt once again with a hat

Jayde oozing Ilka Bessin vibes once again for me, don't let me down gurl, pls be as iconic and a surprise as Ilka was in germany

Richie creeping me out :umm2: that pose and that look especially how he looks at the camera

Hamza looks like a cutie

Ellie S come on you queen, please be as inspiring and as phenomenally great as Mathias was earlier this year

battle of the actors look wise

i am liking Will more than James here in this photo, and once again he looks bit similar to ''David DeLuise'' whom also got that very charismatic presence going for him, while James idk, he's giving me Joe McFadden vibes, not sure if he can dance as well as Joe i don't know if anyone can tbh

but all in all it is a well taken cast photo, great lightgreen background, loving the 1/2 and whole glitterballs too

Nicky91 17-09-2022 01:52 PM
