All football has been postponed this weekend in honour of the Queen
It's been confirmed that no Sporting, Comedy or Political events will be going ahead due to the sad passing of her Majesty The Queen
|
Well I've put my opinion on this on the Queen passing away thread.
All I'll say on this thread is that it's the wrong choice. |
Not confirmed yet I don't think unless you have a source?

You will survive not watching a bunch of over paid womanisers kick a ball about for one weekend.
|
it's weird, the headline on the football pages on the bbc site is that the queen has died

I care that someone has died, especially someone that contributed so much to the country, but I don't think that it's right that people's right to want to escape the news if they wish to is taken away from them. Football is one thing, but Comedy & Politics as well? Politics in particular is an important part for the public to be apart of, that shouldn't be being postponed. Plus people do need some lighthearted entertainment as well, it's clearly the wrong decision to not give people that choice. |

How can you think that it's right that people are being dictated into following a news story? |

i hope this is true
we need a clear weekend of reflection |

Can we have some guidance on how to behave this weekend if we're deprived of sport. Do we just sit at home crying?

Football nor any other event needs to be postponed because the Queen has died, as I've said on another thread we didn't get this when Margaret Thatcher died who was our PM fgs at one point. I personally feel sad that the Queen has died, and I do appreciate what she did for the country, but I also can see that it's not right for any form of escapism to be taken away from people, that's just common sense. |
Has this been confirmed .
I can't find anything that says more than it may be Or have I missed something. If it is, it is. I can understand the respect angle however the Queen was the firm example of carrying on with things. |

Don’t be a sad man wasting your life watching dicks kick a ball about |

And I don't get what generalization you're throwing around about Football fans, but I lead a reasonably normal life, hence why I'm arguing for people's freedom to be able to watch what they want, including the news covering the Queen. It's all about choice, Football, the Queen's death, EastEnders, you name it, it should be available to watch. |
people are going to view that cancellation differently depending on how much they cared about the monarchy. I personally can't abide a week or more going over the same stuff on repeat and I don't believe that is being disrespectful to anyone
|
The commentators on the Man U v S Real game have said nothing has been confirmed.
What a class act the S Real fans were during the minutes silence. |

I need my fantasy fix...

I think rather than following protocol they should judge the mood of the nation, after two years of being locked down and businesses struggling there really is no need to shut everything down

Personally though I support the option for BBC News to be the hub for people interested in news about the Queen to go to considering it is a Government owned station. Every other channel should be left as normal imo. |
