Countdown to Liz Truss forced resignation

The writing is already on the wall. People had little hope that she was going to be competent. She has next to no support amongst Tory MP's, so its only a matter of time until she is out the door

I think she will be gone by January, thoughts? Does anyone think she has a long term future? Does anyone think she will still be in place to fight the next election?

Cherie 27-09-2022 06:48 AM

I have no idea what they were thinking electing her

We were ready for Rishi

I totally agree. Sunak's budget would have helped the poor and low paid.

He would have dished out money to those people who WOULD have spent it and stimulated the economy, UNLIKE the rich who hoard it, because they already have money. They don't need more money as an incentive to spend.

Truss and that other clown, Twangtang are absolute idiots. I don't care how many qualifications they have, they're still thick.:fist:

:hee::hee:

Liz is doing a fab job

UserSince2005 27-09-2022 08:22 AM

we love her so no

No surprise rumblings are beginning.

She was the WORST possible choice from all who stood for the leadership.

Just gross.
For me however leave her in place and hopefully the voters will well and truly kick her out in any election.

Deluded, ridiculous, heartless and incompetent are all that can genuinely be said about her.

Unless Boris is coming back then we have the best person for the job

Has the IMF ever criticised the budget of a developed country so strongly?

Has any budget been as decried and doomsaid as this one?

Shes not being given much of a chance imo,the media and press are already gunning for her, they wont stop until they get their own way. I have no idea what sort of PM she will make but it's clear she doesn't stand a chance to show what she can do.

Liam- 29-09-2022 10:53 AM

Ah, it’s the media’s fault she’s completely tanked the economy is it?

MTVN 29-09-2022 11:06 AM

This is what most Tory MPs, supporters, and journalists wanted her to do and now they're all wetting their pants over the fallout to it. They seem to have thought pursuing a high reward strategy could be done without high risk

We surely can't have another leadership contest, if she ends up going they'd just have to put in someone uncontested

It isn't though MTVN.
Except for journalists maybe.
Most Con MPs didn't even want her in the run off never mind leader.
245 Con MPs didn't vote for her in the final MPs ballot.

Then although she got 81,000 votes from the Con membership.
That's not even half of the 172,000 membership of the Con party.

That's likely why her ride as leader will be harder.

The Con MPs and indeed membership as to both.
She got nowhere near even just half support from them.

Yes the Markets
win in the end.

She has asked for a month
to let things settle.

Fair points but once it was the final 2 Truss did have more MP backers than Sunak

I said to be careful what you wish for :)

There will soon be a clamour to bring back Boris …

Letter to the DT

SIR – In the IMF’s unprecedented and insolent intrusion, one can hear the voice
of the establishment. Indeed, one can almost hear the sniggers as they
contemplate the fall of our Prime Minister and Chancellor.

I sincerely hope that the Prime Minister will treat them with the contempt they
deserve and press on with her plans. It is a great relief to have true
Conservatives in Downing Street.

Con MPs did want Sunak more.

The last ballot had Sunak on 137.
Truss only had 113.

24 didn't switch to Truss.
A fair number did but not up to 137.

She was never from the start the Con MPs choice.
