Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
 

It's-a here! The first trailer for the Super Mario Bros. movie is set to drop during a Nintendo Direct presentation on Thursday, Nintendo has revealed. The trailer is set to premiere at New York Comic Con and will be online shortly after.

It'll be our first look at the Illumination movie studio's animated movie, which will star Chris Pratt as the iconic plumber.

The movie is scheduled to hit US theaters on April 7, 2023.

Fans are eager to hear Pratt's Mario voice, especially because co-producer Chris Meledandri said he won't use the exaggerated Italian accent made famous by video game voice actor Charles Martinet.

Aside from Pratt, the all-star cast includes Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. Martinet will also have a surprise role.

What else can we expect from this Nintendo Direct?
The presentation won't include game information, Nintendo noted, likely to keep our Switch expectations in check. We'll likely hear from Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, executives from Nintendo and Illumination and some of the cast and crew.

This won't be the gaming giant's only foray into the movie business, specifically because it launched the new animation subsidiary Nintendo Pictures on Monday.
