Power Blackouts are expected over the winter
The National Grid has said that controlled Power Blackouts during the winter for up to 3 hours are a strong possibility as the UK could run out of supplies
|
British households could lose power for up to three hours at a time this winter if gas supplies run extremely low, National Grid has warned.
The company said it was an "unlikely" scenario but added that supply interruptions were a possibility if the energy crisis escalated. Cuts would probably occur at peak times such as morning or early evening, and customers would be warned in advance. But as a "base case" National Grid expects homes will face no problems. The UK is heavily reliant on gas to produce electricity, with gas-fired power stations generating more than 40% of the country's electricity. It also imports electricity from the Continental Europe. National Grid - which keeps the lights on in England, Scotland and Wales - said Russia's invasion of Ukraine had created "unprecedented turmoil and volatility" in the energy markets. Gas flows from Russia to Europe have been all but cut off, leaving countries scrambling for alternative supplies. Although Britain is far less reliant on Russian gas than mainland Europe, it could still suffer knock-on effects from any shortfalls in supplies on the continent, National Grid said. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63155827 |
What about charging your phone and stuff in the freezer, or being able to go on the Internet if you have no data. And freezing. No electric fire or heating if you're only electric.

Lets see
if it happens |

Your Freezer should be OK just do not open it during a Power Cut. All you Data is saved on a Power cut |

rather than Germany whom massively rely on russian gas and here gas and energy companies said they've been saving up additional gas as a extra buffer, but the gas flow from the US can continue to keep coming in so here we should be able to get through winter, but people need to shower lesser time, more like 10 minutes at maximum, but preferably 5 minutes, and lesser washing hands with warm water but cold water lesser turning your heaters on, (well here with us, we turn heaters back off to 14 or 15 for example at night, sleep with extra blankets, and during the day not warmer than around 18, 19, 20 i mean too warm also isn't comfortable for me personally) |
poor Olaf Scholz right now, him working so hard regarding the gas crisis

its winter, stick the stuff outside
Gas central heating will be ****ed during any cuts, luckily i have a gas fire that can heat up most of the house at a pinch |

Same thing Keep it closed Never open during a power cut |
Liz Gross stated there'd be NO blackouts in her leadership campaign.
The way things are going it's more likely now there will be. |
i would imagine the chance of blackout is directly related to how cold the coming winter is going to be. So, no-one can predict with any certainty yet

i remember when we had power cuts in the 70's
Most people still had coal fires in those days, so it was like having an indoor barbeque at meal time |
On a postive note you cant use any energy during a black out :hee:
Get a few of those portable charges and kerp them charged so you can charge devices in worse case scenario |
Well if that's the worst case scenario it's not the end of the world
Good chance to do some looting |
