'Mum & dad' or 'ladies & gentlemen banned under new woke language guide for councils

A new language guide instructs councils in England and Wales to avoid calling
parents "mother" or "father" in an attempt to not not offend small numbers of people.

Instead of referring to parents' gender, the Local Government Association's guide advises staff to use the term "birthing parent".

Other banned terms in the 18-page document include "expat", "second
generation", "the homeless", "lifestyle choice", "economic migrant" and deprived neighbourhoods".

The guide suggests opting for "welcome everyone" at public events rather
han "welcome ladies and gentlemen", adding: "People who are not 'ladies' or
gentlemen' may recognise the difference, feel included and that they belong."

The ruling was emailed to 339 English and 22 Welsh councils by the LGA's hief executive Mark Lloyd CBE, the Sun reports.

People will never follow these guidelines, it's the Media scaremongering and trying to divide everyone as usual.

Pretty much this
You cannot erase 'mother' & 'Father' , from the English language.

Crazy nonsense.
What about parents who have an adopted child and haven’t ‘birthed’ them? Or a stepmother or stepfather? What are they to be called?

I'm furious. Everyone knows that languages can never change, which is why Shakespeare had to create his own language that he called olde English, just so he could write his plays in a way that would make them less accessible to future generations.

In all seriousness though can we please not have totes in the English dictionary? That would be my own personal hell if that happened.

Ask and you shall receive.

That word making the dictionary makes me worried that we're going backwards.

tote has always been a word in the dictionary, the board the bookies have at the race course is a tote board :smug:

Redway 08-10-2022 03:46 AM

"Unhoused", apparently. It's just as dumb as saying "people of colour" is okay while "coloured people" isn't...

Swan 08-10-2022 11:29 AM

I don't think the "worlds greatest birthing parent" mugs are gonna be best sellers.

Language can change, but humanity hasn't - mothers are still the only parents who can give birth, ladies and gentlemen are the only things an adult can be.
