Alright then, someone just tried to break into my flat!!!

Weirdest thing, my neighbour rents a house next to me, someone had a go at his place last week. Luckily his son was up and scared them off.

I was just sitting here relaxing on the sofa watching streams, all of a sudden i heard a noise at my door, i stood in the hall, and then could hear someone trying to break in. I shouted as loud as i could, tried to act "hard" (i was scared ngl). I grabbed a dumbbell and shouted i'll wrap it around his head. He/they (dunno how many there was) ran off. I looked out the window but couldn't see them.

Kinda shaken. Happened about 20 mins ago. I called the Police, they are coming round when they can.

I can handle myself, but this has sh!t me up.....

Wide awake now!!! Adrenaline maybe.

Swan 15-11-2022 12:00 AM

Problem is it's 1am on a Monday night, so can't really call anyone. Fcuk it was surreal

Kate! 15-11-2022 12:03 AM

Aww Swan that's awful sweetheart.

I wouldn't sleep after that. What creep(s).

Swan 15-11-2022 12:03 AM

He busted the lock, can't lock the door, just gonna sit here with my dumbbell until the Police get here.

That's the thing, i was dozing off on the sofa, then i heard this noise. Stood in the hall, and heard/see him trying to break in....

Police have said if they come back to stay out the way, but no way am i doing that. I don't think they will come back, wouldn't make sense. I don't think he/they wanted to harm me, just wanted to take my stuff?!!!!

Mystic Mock 15-11-2022 12:18 AM

I'm sorry to hear that Swan.

Hopefully the Police can lock them up.

arista 15-11-2022 12:23 AM

Ignore the Police

Use a Bar on him
if he comes back.

in the morning

You'll have to get yourself a guard dog.

Sounds like Beirut around your area.

It's not that bad here tbh. It's a wealthy town tbh, Tunbridge Wells. I don't live in the rich part though.

that's crazy ****. Get a cam so that you have video evidence and make sure it can be seen from outside

Beso 15-11-2022 06:22 AM

Dont you have a communal door for the block of flats?

Vanessa 15-11-2022 07:55 AM

Omg, that must have been so scary. Glad you're ok.

Cherie 15-11-2022 08:02 AM

Scary stuff...did you have any lights on...leave a light on in the hallway ..it’s more unlikely they will break in if they think someone is up...and when you go out especially now it gets dark early have a lamp plugged into a timer switch so it looks like the place is occupied, sorry t hear that Swan it will shake you up, at least the police came out

Nicky91 15-11-2022 08:09 AM

were it russians by any chance?

Crimson Dynamo 15-11-2022 08:17 AM

Horrible experience but good new locks should do they job, just ensure you are always locked and leave a light on.

I have a police truncheon by my bed, its not too big (so can be swung in tight spaces) but heavy and dense it also has a loop for my wrist so it wont come out my hand easy thus giving a robber a weapon.

MTVN 15-11-2022 08:31 AM

Always one of my biggest fears, having a break in :worry: glad you deterred them and lucky you were awake

Did the police ever come? Heard their response rates to break ins has been terrible recently

Vanessa 15-11-2022 08:44 AM

Yes, living alone can be scary :bawling:
