a mix of 3 good dances for Molly & Carlos

ofc judges have to choose that jive of Helen, their little pet sooooo predictable :laugh3:

3 of favourite dances being couples choice, removes what little credibility this series has left as a dance competition. We have a grand final with only one ballroom dance out of the 9 being performed. Shouldn't the judges be choosing the weakest dances rather the strongest dance as their choice?

The whole show needs a complete revamp. I'd sack Shirley and remove Couple's Choice which is just random nonsense. I'd bring the Showdance to the semi-final and make the finalists do one new dance, their worst dance and their own choice in the final. Every contestant should have to do a minimum of a Waltz, a Foxtrot, a Tango and a Quickstep by a certain point in the series - say QF. I'd have everyone have to choose to do either a Rumba or an Argentine Tango (the 2 hardest no ballroom dances if marked properly) but not both, no later than the SF.

Tens should be awarded for nothing less than a professional-level dance. We should expect to see marks as low as three on a regular basis.

They didn't pick Molly's Paso or Fleur's AT?:conf:

The Show is too soft nowadays to do what you're suggesting sadly.

For me.
They look a surprising selection and not the better of the series.

Plus for me only likely, I've found the enjoyment of Strictly this year spoiled a lot of the time by inappropriate music selection for the dance routines.

I always moan at the judges I know, I am sick of Shirley's inconsistent voting and bias particularly even more this series.
However the music has been dire as to the dance routines it's been assigned to.

I think Hamza is likely to win, however I hope I'm wrong.
As his last few dances have been only in the main standing about a lot doing lifts.
Plus I'm still stunned at the votes he got for that dire tedious waltz he did last week.

I hope Fleur or Helen win this.

Overall however, I haven't enjoyed this series anywhere near as much as previous ones.
Far too much time given to and taken by and for the judges.
Who frankly are just really annoying to me more now.
Rant over.

couples choice is not a random nonsense, what do you know anyway

3 different sets of dance styles

Fleur: street/commercial
Helen: theatre/jazz
Hamza: afrobeat

Vanessa 14-12-2022 07:41 AM

I was so annoyed that Will never got to dance his tango/AT. Ballroom is is strength and it's madness not to give him ballroom in the semifinals.
Nancy needs to remember that for next year. Keep a ballroom for the semifinal.

Nicky91 14-12-2022 01:08 PM

some nice concept changes for strictly would be

indeed fairer scoring, and no 8's 9's 10's in early weeks unless they really really deserve those high marks

more variation in themed weeks maybe and label them differently too for a refreshing change
Halloween Week to be Horror Night

Movie Week to be Film & TV Tunes

get rid of musicals night, go with around the world week again

or a Magic Moments Week for all couple's choice/freestyles all in one week only

one week of Jury Team Dances + 80's or 90's Week

Blackpool night i should be combining with Eurovision Night, lots of over the top cheesiness, fun, drama

the semi finals being Two Dances + Impro Dance Extreme (with a live draw on the night itself who gets which dance assigned and 1 minute 30 seconds to come with a back to basics routine)

the grand final
Jury Dance with a new song
Showdance but even bigger than before, more over the top like a music video or movie feel
Favourite Dance

change of hosts
a male/female combo for me personally
Anton Du Beke & AJ Odudu

my judges line up
Craig Revel Horwood
Motsi Mabuse
Natalie Lowe
AJ Pritchard

and 16 celebrities instead of the uneven 15, more equality in terms of 8 male and 8 female pro's who get a partner, lesser on the bench

Yeah I'm surprised by this aswell . Also to add , I'm surprised Helen didn't get the quickstep ..as that was her first outstanding turning point dance I thought.

Vanessa 15-12-2022 09:59 AM

Nor everyone doing their couples choice :skull:

except Molly, and understandable her fave dance being the rumba, with the king of rumba as her partner

because that was a stunning performance + Carlos is a rumba specialist & one of her favourite songs

she has 3 good dances i think, also in terms of contrast (1 ballroom, showdance with 2 very great prince classic hits, and a slow dance)

same goes for Hamza (Salsa, a ballroom inspired showdance very likely, Afrobeat CC)

Helen also i think (Jive, i think an emotional showdance, Jazz CC)

only Fleur who lacks contrast, everything very fast

I agree with you Joey on most of your points, especially the judges.

In particular Shirley & Anton are in a contest for who can be the most annoying to watch, and I normally like Anton but he doesn't suit being a judge imo.

What a coincidence that Hamza gets his two most popular dances for the final though.

Has this ever happened before??? . Well I don't know what to make of it ,as now the rag tabloid is printing about Hamza dancing when he was younger. So it feels like they're trying to push for a Helen win,but then why not give her the Quickstep ....and why are the media trying to sabotage Hamza by printing that .

Oh well I'll still enjoy the routines, even if some of the choices are unexpected.

Also I'm fed up of hearing about 'previous dance experience ' , when 90% of celebrities have danced before in their life!!! :joker: . Or had some fitness advantage.

Like I've said time after time again, if people want a competition with total dance virgins & zero advantage, then all the contestants would be news readers & politicians ,and it would be very boring.

Today's press shows video of Hamza dancing on stage in front of an audience ten years ago. including Pasa Doble "to an advanced level"; and salsa.

The accusation is on video, so scarcely disputable. It also includes quotation from "Yassin" stating that he had never danced before Strictly.

The comment above from Mystick Mock just prompts me to believe that BBC manipulates the audience in the way no public service should. So it has an agenda in seeking to promote Hamza to becoming the new Sir David Attenborough; but if it were to pursue such a goal in underhand manner by manipulating viewers' votes, the BBC would merely go down a route where his career will be tarnished.

He seems like a nice chap. One could also wonder whether the BBC told him to hush up his previous extensive dance lessons and experience and performace.

This evening's final needs to be reviewed. If the BBC do not take immediate action now that their cat, or, to maintain the wildlife theme, raging tiger is out of the bag, the controversy will rage on well into 2023 and will also tarnish the Come Dancing story of 75 years in the way it should not be allowed to. The first disqualified champion?

The BBC is quick to air ACCUSATIONS against European EU officials in the Qatargate scandal this week because it suits their own highly questionable agenda.

The lack of transparancy in Strictly voting has stunk for years. Given the many possible methods of voting, we can be sure some smug BBC administrator is sitting there ready to juggle the facts and figures to justify in the face of any accusation.

The BBC has every chance to to make voting visible, transparent, fun - in the way the more creative European broadcasting organisation does in the annual song contest.

That the BBC has any agenda would be worrying in a world where those who are BEST should be promoted, not slow-tracked because their personal profile doesn't rank favourably against others'.

That such an agenda might be allowed to manifiest itself, with such scant respect for the viewers at large, is a mere reconfirmation of what many have felt for some years.

If the Final goes ahead regardless of today's press revelation in an attempt to sweep this tiger under the carpet, we can be sure that Qatargate will be a tiny back door in comparison with the Brandenburg-scale Hamzagate that will dominate the months to come.

Nicky91 17-12-2022 09:13 AM

welcome to the forum :wavey:

and Hamza has said after week 1, he had secret dance lessons just one week before the launch show or something
